I am a several year member of this website as a rheumatoid arthritis survivor..

Today.. my 76 year old father was diagnosed with PR.

I will be found in this forum of Arthritis Insight to learn more about what my father has to deal with..

Any advice and information would be most welcome.

Thanks..

You will find loads of advice will come pouring in - but in the meantime visit www.pmr-gca-northeast.org.uk,  loads of information, including medical information, diagnostics, treatment and people's stories and also an email support group for men.

Luckily men seem not to have as many problems as us females and less trouble with side effects.

You obviously have dealt with RA and are a survivor and you must have inherited some of your father's gene's.   Another survivor?
Thanks mrs UK.

I hope he's a survivor too!!
I call myself a survivor.. because that is what we do w/ these diseases.. we survive them.. then we win!!
He has been DX'd with Gout for decades... I never felt that was the correct Diagnosis.

His grandmother had RA.... He has PR.. my mom had Reynaud's.. and I have RA and Sjogrens and was JRA at age 10 .. It is a family thing!!

Thanks for the link.. I will definitely check it out!
Babs - there is also a polymyalgia forum at patient experience uk which has posts from many people with PMR which will provide you with insight. Lots of reading but very informative!

And welcome as your dad's surrogate - let's hope this is a Thanksgiving to remember!
