Well I went to my doctor's appointment yesterday. I still have to be on prednisone for two more month's before I can get weaned off of it. Oh well.
I am on pred too.  I go in two weeks to find out what our next move is also.  I swear I see it on my face too, but everyone else says I look normal.  It is just a bit puffy, I think.  I even weighed myself and haven't gained, but it is the water weight distribution.  It has a lot of control over your electrolytes and water weight.  Cucumbers are a natural diuretic, so I have been eating tons of them.  Hope that helps.  There are some other foods you can eat, like cauliflower and things in the cabbage family.

Jayaz, I'm on prednisone too and have been for a year and a half. It hasn't been too big an ordeal and it's made a big difference in relieving my stiffness and pain.I think the doctor wants to wait until the RA is under control before taking you off.He may put you on other things instead.

I'm a teacher and the testing situation is ridiculous.Schools get penalized if a certain percentage of students don't show up for major testing. They actually loose money. I remember one of my students taking a standardized test in the nurses office. She was given the option of going home but elected to stay because she couldn't graduate without passing it.

Yes, I called the school yesterday to give them the option of his going or not. They said to bring him in and as soon as he was done they would call me to pick him up. He felt awful because as soon as he was done they started spraying the area he was sitting. He said it made him feel like he was nasty. I told him not to worry that they were just trying to protect the other students and it was nothing against him.

Jayaz, I think that it is so cool that you got the ring tattoo - I hadn't heard about doing that, but I think it is a wonderful option for folks with RA.  It would be cool if you could take a picture of it and post for everyone to see!

Linda, I agree with you about the standardized testing.  So much pressure is put on the kids and the teachers, because it is viewed as a report card for the school system.  I used to work in an elementary school, and they bought books, workbooks and other supplies geared to "teaching to the test".  They were also known to encourage parents of special ed students to opt out of testing, telling them that it was too stressful for their kids (which it is) but their only real concern was eliminating students from the test that would bring down the overall scores for the school.  We also had an administrator in another town in our state that was caught changing answers on the tests, so the scores would be higher!  It's just nuts!

Linda~What other medications are you on?

I think the tattoo thing sounds cool too and I'd love to see it.

I would love to post the picture but I can't figure out how since I don't have a site to download it from. Any suggestions?Jay,  you can go to tinypic.com or imageshack.us

Imageshack has an option that will resize it for you for forums.

If you click the icon of the tree in the reply box and put the link in it, it should display the image for you.
