Bumps all over fingers/knuckles/side of fingers... | Arthritis Information

I know a lot of posts from me lately but I have a lot going on right now....

About 2 weeks ago I moved, it was stressful, I had to do a lot of packing (not lifting or moving boxes thank heavens), but I started getting bumps on my finger joints and knuckles. I had two different "bumps" happen there were ones that looked like blisters filled with fluid on top of or very near my finger joints and there were deep deep lumps that appeared near my joints under the skin and on the sides of my fingers. I could tell they were also fluid related but really deep and very sensitive. Needless to say I had to put bandaids over my fingers and knuckles because otherwise touching or bumping my hands were extremely painful.

After I was done moving and done actively using my hands and lifting things, the bumps started to slowly ease up and go down but I have never had such an intense reaction to touching things or moving things and applying any sort of weight or pressure against my hands or fingers.

Something else that happened around this time is that I started getting little blood blisters on the side of my fingers where the edges of my nails met my skin. I am guessing because of swelling of my fingers against the nails that it caused these?

Anyways anyone have any experiences like these? Anything you can tell me about them?

There are two different variations of the bumps but some of them look like this: http://www.cfp.ca/cgi/reprint/51/1/35.pdf these aren't my pics (in fact these are 5 years old) but this photo is the one that resembles them the most that I could find online. I get something like you described--not like the picture above.  It is more like giant hives under the skin.  They hurt and also itch.  I have never been broken out when I am at a drs office.  I have about 4-5 of the RA nodules on my hands, but they have never increased or decreased due to physical activity of the hands or from stress.  Most are on the sides of the joints, not on top or on the bottom.  One is even a few millimeters away from the joint.  They are also not painful, unless there is very firm pressure on them.
