Knee pain and PMR | Arthritis Information

I have  read that knee pain is not from PMR. BUT I did not have this pain until I had PMR. The pain is behind my knees;  and I wake up with it, some days much worse than others. It becomes less over the day and i hardly know i have a problem until I have to bend  them to get to the ground or in my Iyengar Yoga class.( Back to a beginners class!)

I do get some relief from acupuncture, but as my blood tests were worse last week than in Dec when diagnosed,  the rheum has started me on Methotrexate weekly. Yes I am taking the prednisone at 12 mgms again  also and a couple of paracetamol a day but I have been unable to walk hills or stairs, or work more than 1 day a week  and that is only a 7 hr day.

I do not smoke, have stopped  even that lovely glass of red wine, am avoiding nearly all caffeine ( except an occassional weak tea) Drink the caffeine free teas and am having negligible cane sugar , am staying at 62 kgs now and am 5'9". Also avoiding those acid foods.

Doing my 'darndest' to avoid drugs but the docs tell me that I will do more damage to my joints if the pain and inflammation continue unchecked.

Any thoughts on the ' the behind the knee problem' ? It sometimes feels like there is a big boulder there stopping them from bending, but then it slowly gives a bit. Very minimal if any swelling . Appreciate your jottings, Peaches from the lovely  Sydney autumn
