Husband has Bell's Palsy too.... | Arthritis Information

I've had PMR for over 4 years now, and two years ago I got Bell's Palsy which has only improved slightly. I have been trying my best to be optimistic about both problems improving in the New Year.

On New Year's Day my husband woke up with Bell's Palsy!! What are the odds of THAT? He said that if he gets PMR too, he's heading out and spend the next year fishing. Don't blame him.

He is on 60mg of prednisone, whih means he doesn't sleep well, his mind is racing, he has night sweats, and he isn't thinking clearly. Only two more days of prednisone for him, thank goodness.

He said he realized now what I've been going through for over 4 years with the prednisone. That was a kind thing to say, but those few side affects don't reflect the REST of the problems from taking prednisone.

I still can't believe that over 75,000 people in the United States get Bell's Palsy every year, and two of those are right here in my house!

Just wanted to share. What a New Year Day it was spending it in the ER. And then when we got ready to leave the ER, as he was getting dressed, the zipper on his pants broke. I couldn't help myself and started laughing. What a day!

Hope you all have had a good beginning to your New Year. I'm hopeful that this year will be a good one and that it will be pain free for all of us. Keeping a sense of humor is the most important thing to me in standing up to PMR. Happy New Year everyone!
