A Yuba City physician convicted of Medicare and Medi-Cal fraud also prescribed "dangerous" drugs for himself using another doctor's name, according to the Medical Board of California.

Jeffrey Lawrence Phillips, of North Valley Neurological Associates, 1215 Plumas St., prescribed Ambien, Restoril and Xanax for himself, according to an amended accusation filed Dec. 21 by the board.

A hearing on Phillips' medical license is scheduled March 1, said board spokeswoman Jennifer Simoes.

Phillips also provides medical marijuana
