Mrs. UK maybe you can answer my question.  I am in the US and would love to be able to receive a copy of the dvd regarding pmr that is on the UK PMR website.  Is there anyway this could be accomplished?

Thanksrusssellcat

Yes there is but it does not work out as cheaply as if you were in the UK.

It takes you to ask a bank for  a sterling cheque from the bank for £8 and I gather the rates change.  Maybe there is some other way and you could ask, but that is what a previous person located in the USA did.

You then download the forms and post them, together with the cheque, we then send it to you the same day we receive the cheque.

We only wish we could afford to send them out without any charge, but as a small embyro organisation we just have to charge for postage and packaging.  We do not charge for the DVD itself as we made it with partial funding from our National Lottery and also from Gateshead MBC (our local Council) who partially funded us to get started and let us use the Town Hall facilities for free.

Everyone  on that DVD gave up their time and expertise free of charge.   The most they got was a cup of coffee, sandwich and lots of laughter.

You can see photographs of the filming day on our website www.pmr-gca-northeast.org.uk and click on DVD located in the list on the left hand side.

Paypal just costs us too much to use it at present, maybe when we are on a stronger financial footing then we can look at it again.  Remember we have only being in operation for two years come March.

Good Luck russellcat and may your pmr take a hike in 2011.

Thanks so much for the info, Mrs. UK.  I'll print out your reply and take it to the bank with me so I get the exchange correct.

The PMR is still hanging in there.  I just went down to 7mg pred from 8mg two days ago and so far so good.  Going from 9 to 8 before the holidays proved to be too much with all the shopping and then my fathers house sold and we moved him into a retirement community.  With me being power of attorney that added alot more stress on me too.  My upper thighs didn't want to stoop or get me out of the chair without hurting.  So anyway I went back to 9mg for an additional two weeks and then to 8mg for a month and it worked out better.  This time while reducing I will try to keep my stress levels in check.

I do hate these winter fronts that keep coming through though.  Everytime the barometer drops my pain levels increase.  I don't think they are from the PMR though.  I think they are more fibro and arthritis related because it seems that every muscle in my back swells and my knees hurt where the fibro tender points are.

Take care and again thanks for the info.
I'm not sure a UK DVD will play here in the States.  I bought one in Ireland and it wouldn't work here.  Better check it out.Hi...
I am from the U.S. and received a copy of the DVD. The person that I had corresponded with on the UK site told me to send a check for .00 to PMR&GCA UK North East Support, South Farm Cottage, Kibblesworth NE 11 0Y OYJ. Within a couple of weeks I received my DVD, which, by the way, is really good. Later, I noticed that my check hadn't been cashed so I emailed them again. The person who responded this time said that they can't cash U.S. checks. I'm not sure what to do about the money that I feel like I still owe them. I feel bad about it.

The DVD will not play on my DVD Blue Ray player. It does, however play on my Apple computer.   Hope this helps!

Stop right now feeling bad about owing the money.

We did not cash the cheque as it would have cost us twice as much to cash it.  So we framed it.  Our bank advised us to get people in overseas countries to ask for a sterling cheque.  Your non- payment is not breaking our back  - so please just enjoy the DVD and our lovely background scenery. And at least you know what I sound like.  Yes its me on the voice-over at the end.  A Geordie born and bred.
Oh, thanks Mrs. UK!
It makes me smile to think of my check being in a frame over there. Just think of all the people you've reached out to and helped whenever you look at it! I'm going to watch the DVD again today and listen for your voice. It'll be fun to be a voice to all of our emails...
Gentle hugs,
Jannie Mr.s UK,
Oops, I meant "hear" the voice behind the emails!
Also, after reading about it on the UK site, I'm getting a Vitamin D test today. We get so little sun here in the winter, I'm wondering if that is making things worse. It would be great if that would help.
And, I bought a pair of the Nordic poles. It sounds like it might be worth a try!
Thanks for everything,
JannieMrs. UK.  I went to my bank and was told that they can't issue a sterling cheque in the US but can issue a cashiers check for the equivalent amount that is requested at the time of purchase.  Would that be ok?  I'd really like to see the dvd.

Montanawoman, I purchase my calcium tablets with vitamin d included.  Each 600mg calcium includes 400mg vitamin d.  I did have a vitamin d test at the start of PMR and was ok so 800mg per day seems to be working out.  I'm in Ohio and we don't get much sun in the winter and it is so cold you don't want to go out in it anyway.
russellcat

we are checking that suggestion out, will be in touch asap. If that does not work, have another idea.

Stay loose.
Russellcat and Montanwomen

We have talked to our bank and found out a way to overcome the problem.  They are forwarding details to us and I will post them when I get them.  Then you can make your decision knowing the facts.
Thanks so much Mrs. UK.  Let me know when you find out something.I'd be interested too. I tried getting one last year, but forgot what the problem was. montanawoman

Just waiting the last piece of information  - so should be able post it on here early next week
