restasis question | Arthritis Information

I have just started restasis and noticed that the burning in my eyes has been staying quite a while. Has anybody else experienced this? The burning seems to start about 5 to 10 minutes after I put the drop in. Since this is my first week, will this subside over time, or do I have to endure this daily? It's really bothersome right now, but I'm hoping that it will be worth it in the long run. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I just started on restasis too. I also feel burning. My rd says that the burning MAY get better, but it is one of the side effect of the med. I hope that it stops for you.

I've been on Restasis for over 6 months. When I first started using it, I had a lot of burning, too. It went away almost completely after the first couple weeks. I still "feel the burn" on rare occasions when my eyes are extremely dry or tired. Also, be careful in the sun. I've noticed that if I put the drops in before going outside, my eyes become EXTREMELY light sensitive and hurt really bad and I have trouble seeing. I usually wait at least an hour before going outside now. That seems to do the trick. Of course, everybody's different... Good luck! I hope you have as much success with Restasis as I have!
