Humira Withdraw ??? | Arthritis Information

Good afternoon! I have a question I'm hoping people that have humira experence can answer.
I'm Sero Negative. And one look at my hands and there is no question about it.
Anyway, I take Humira and I have too complaints!!!
1. It does not last me a full 2 weeks. Maybe 10 days at most! I informed my RA doctor and he said he would rather see me in pain for 4 days rather then increasing my dose. He said if increased he would be RX'ing above the FDA approval level and jepordize my life. So I'm cool about it.

How long does it last you guys and girls?

2. After day 10 I withdraw! I mean full blown withdraw. I have taken narcs before and know what WD feels like on all levels. So I can confirm it's withdraw. It has been 5 months that I have been tracking and it's like clock work. Since I take my shot on Mondays' that mean at least one of my two weekends is completly shot!

Do you or have you experienced the withdraw like symtoms?

Dr. refuses to give me any other Bio- meds to try because I have Nureo problems as well. And I don't complain about the issue because I'm happy with what relief I do get.

I'm just wondering if this is common and something I just need to deal with.

I take Humira but I take it weekly along with methotrexate.  I have not experienced withdraw symptoms.  I know when I have missed a dose I can tell through my RA symptoms.

I have been taking Humira for several years now.  I have had no reactions like you say.  I take it every other week and have gone 3 weeks a couple of times.  Just remember everyone is different and could react differently.  I think your dr. is wise not to let you take it weekly.

I have the same problem.... 10 days and then I start getting what I call the "tin man" syndrome where the joints ache/creak back again because I have ran out of "oil"... its not withdrawal its just that its no longer effective and stops working. This is why they usually do double therapies (such as Humira and methotrexate or Humira and Palquenil). After I take another shot, within a day or overnight the aches and creaks go away until the 10th day again.

How long have you been on Humira? That makes a difference... if you have been on it at least 3 months and still have that problem, I would ask why they won't try another biologic like Enbrel for you. Usually they bounce people between the two of these to see which works the best. I have heard of people getting Humira weekly but I think it ups your risk for other issues (labwork abnormalities etc) which is why they don't usually recommend it.

DEFINITELY NOT A WITHDRAWAL ISSUE (IMO)
Abby, you might be right. I feel the same way. Exactly I take the shot and by the next worning things are oiled again for another 10 days.
However, I compare mine to WD because I get the chills bad. Mixed in is depression and occasional hot flashes.
