Anybody ever ger spasm's in the lower head area just as your neck would reach your hairline. There are two bumps one each side. Last night the worst pain ever and I could barely turn my head. Def. RA not an injuryYes.  I actually will get inflammation there.  Very painful since it's hard to lie down.

I used to put a bag of ice back there to find some relief.

Sorry to hear that you have this problem as well, but at least you are in good company :)
I have the same problem periodically. When the inflammation hits there, my neck starts to spasm and it's incredibly painful. I have a PRN prescription for Robaxin, and put ice wraps around my neck. Seems like when it acts up, it usually lasts for a several days to a week. Sometimes I even up my Medrol dose by 4 mg. during that time. That usually does the trick. Sorry you're going through this too.

Go to the doctor, your primary care doctor.  Could be RA but also could be several other medical issues that need attention.  Don't just take it for granted that it's RA.  Call your doctor today.  Lindy

Hello,

I agree w/LinB. You really should discuss this w/your doctor. I have neck pain and swelling in the back of my neck. Sometimes the pain goes down my shoulder into my fingers, but not often, thank goodness. I take Soma every evening before I go to bed and that seems to keep things under control in my neck. I have a herniated disc/C3. Hope you get some answers and relief soon.

VThis problem has happed before. It's RA related. Sometimes it's just a inconvenience but the last episode was off the hook. Today the pain has subsided quite a bit. Crazy this RA Shi&^%$#@I have OA in my neck and lower spine. There are times when I'll move my neck just a tad too much in one direction and it will get stuck there. It hurts like he#* when it happens and even more when I have to move it back where it belongs. It's been embarrassing to have it happen in public and it's stuck looking up and to the right
