The American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association Inc. (AARDA) has unveiled a multi-media public service/awareness campaign titled "We are 50 Million" to herald March 2011 as National Autoimmune Diseases Awareness Month.

The campaign is designed to educate the general public about the magnitude of autoimmune disease and its impact on patients, families and the U.S. health care system. It spotlights the more than 100 known autoimmune diseases and the 50 million Americans who suffer from them, as well as the latest methods of diagnosis and treatment, and the most promising research on the horizon.

The "We are 50 Million" campaign features television and radio public service announcements (PSAs) to air on national satellite, cable and radio networks, as well as patient stories aimed at traditional, new and social media outlets.

Other 2011 National Autoimmune Diseases Awareness Month events scheduled by AARDA include:

- A U.S. Capitol Hill Briefing to members of Congress to present the report "The Autoimmune Epidemic: The Financial Burden of Autoimmune Diseases to Your Constituents and the Health Care System" on March 22 in collaboration with the National Coalition of Autoimmune Patient Groups.

- A free public forum in New York City titled "What Every American Needs to Know about Autoimmune Disease" on March 26 at New York University's Langone Medical Center.

Welcome to the board

This is a great place to find information and discuss issues with people who are kind, compassionate and knowledgeable about autoimmune illnesses.

I agree with you about learning all you can about these illnesses...Knowledge is power!

Ok......I am this "new person" you are talking about...and up to now...I have been "defending" your comments and 'thanking' you as well for the info. you shared with me...

I truly wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, after hearing all the things I've been reading about you in this forum...but "what the hell!!!!!?????"

Don't you have anything better to do, than to put people down!!!???
I'm sure I'm not the only one here, that is going through "enough already" dealing with our "aches and pains" not mentioning the emotional toll, conditions like this cause...

The sad thing, is that I personally have found your infortmation quite interesting and helpful...and it actually makes a lot of sense to me-however I think it would be taken better if you "toned down" your comments, and were more respectful to others!
sjenk,

Most of us here at this forum have been here quite some time. We are very eduacted about our disease. We've had practically every type of snake oil salesman here. ronbn56 is only different because of his vulgarity and his lack of couth.

ronbn56 gets mad because we won't follow him. You are new and it's only newbies that are usually susceptible to theories that have been proven to be not true according to science. ronbn56 hates Lynn because she is extremely knowledgable about diseases and research and science. She doesn't attack ronbn56. Never has. But what she has done is post articles that are scientifically accurate that shows that what ronbn56 is selling is quackery. She does this because, new people are looking for that miracle cure. All of us here have done that. There is no magic cure. Science is getting closer but there is no magic cure. If there was, we would tell you. We would tell the world. Do you actully think that ronbn56 is telling some great cure? If it were so, he could be on every news channel. Well, maybe not, the news media is probably in on the conspiracy to keep everyone sick and on drugs. Just ask him. Ask him why he doesn't go to the news agencies. Think about it. Our diseases actually cripples and kills. It's a very serious disease. Billions are spent to keep us functioning. Ask him for the statistics on how many RA patients have been cured by his cures. Ask him. Certainly there must be some evidence. Think about it. A cure for RA? A cure for cancer? He has it. Ask him. He has the cure and yet, the whole world is in on this great conspiracy. Think about how great this conspiracy is. It includes all doctors, medical and reasearch hospitals. Scientists, governments, probably 10 million people and not one of them will come forward because big pharm is paying them off. Everything needs to be backed up by science and statistics. He has neither and there is a good reason. All he has is talk. That's all. We know our disease. We've been around this ra block many times. We've seen the ronbn56 of this ra world. They have alot of talk and nothing to back it up. Once again, happy merry way to you. You can do a search for rheumatoid arthritis alternatives and you will probably get a million or so hits. They all can cure us. They all have testimonials. They all have disclaimers, the most important part of their websites.
