Itchy neck? | Arthritis Information

Wonder if I now have something related or completely separate from PMR...itchy red neck with some raised bumps..seemed to coincide with lowering prednsone dose to 1 and one half mg. Anyone else have this? Are you normally allergic to anything? That sounds like hives and I find my allergy to wheat is pretty much controlled whilst I'm on steroids (the only advantage of steroids I've found!) and I need the antihistamines a lot less. Never got to one and a half mg yet to know if it would come back!

I am agreeing with you. Yes I do occasionally have allergies that I control with antihistamines when they flare up. Perhaps with the reduced prednisone, I am more prone to those air born environmental allergies . Also I am wintering in south Texas where there is a lot of wind and some seasonal changes that may be disturbing me. Thank you for the response. The tapering of prednisone I am doing is now one half mg per month. I feel like the fable turtle who taught us to be slow and sure. Mrs Uk your informaton store is amazing. Have you considered publishing? ActuallyI brought uncoated prednisone with me from Canada sufficient to last me the three months we winter in a warmer climate. The symptoms related to PMR at different stages and I continue to learn how to manage better from you and others on this forum. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.Have you changed your washing powder - or shampoo, or soap? Or anything else! Or bought a new pullover, shirt, necklace? Bet what you use in deepest Texas isn't always the same as what you use at home - and if the neck of something you've washed or bought new is rubbing on your skin - voila!
