Tylenol okay to take with RA meds? | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone asked their dr whether it's okay to take Tylenol with all their current meds and how much per day is ok? I've heard different things about this. I have a horrible headache not going away even after two extra strength Tylenol. Have a call in to my Rheumy but wondered what you might have been told?

I'm currently on Humira , 5 mg methotrexate and prednisone.

Thanks!

I almost always get the ok with tylenol.  Now I take oxycodone so I have to be careful. Acetomenaphine is what you need to watch.  Tylenol has it and so do many other over the counter meds.

When I get really bad headaches, Motrin is the only thing that will touch it.  Dr. is ok with this as well as long as I use it in moderation.

When in doubt, the pharmacist often knows more than the dr. since they deal with the meds daily.

Hope the headache goes away.

have you already forgot about the acidosis?

I agree with what Rebecca said Actually, no I haven't.  I take it rarely, but when I run a fever, that is what I can take.

I am in the process of cutting back on as many meds as possible.  The acidosis was caused by out of control inflammation causing the gi system to shut down.
I have had a ton of complications involving the heart and lungs.  As much as I hate to take meds, I also need to be around for my son.  I know that I will always have to take medications, but I also look for other ways to handle the disease as well.  I actually have an appointment tomorow with one of my drs who incorporates meds, diet, and therapy into treatment.  I really curious to see what ideas he may have.  I did ok this weekend, but was not able to keep meds down today.

Klynn-you are on pred.  I know that if I get off schedule on my pred dose, I can get killer headaches.
Hi Rebecca ! Good to hear from you. Thanks for your advice, I've heard asking a pharmacist about meds is a good idea . I hope your appt goes well tomorrow. Sorry you're not doing so well today. You sure are a strong person. Big hugs
