Influenza A ? | Arthritis Information

I am just guessing that it was I have. My community has really been hit hard by this. Just trying to get into see a doctor in packed waiting rooms full of people coughing would mean that I have been exposed to it.

Well my breathing has not been good scince yesterday. I am taking 40 mg of pred a day as I was still wheezing after having used my inhaler. I do not often need my inhaler. Usually only if I am outside for along time during ragweed season then I may need my inhaler, or some other alergic culprit. So I thought it unusal to have needed it constantly scince yesterday.

Naturally I was put on abx also but I do not feel as miserable as the last time I was sick except for the breathing problems.

I have not been to my sisters but have been talking to her on the phone and she was tested positive for influenza A today. All of her children and my mother also have been coughing and running fevers ect..

I first tried calling my doctor yesterday but he was out sick. I went to get my allergy shot in the afternoon and thought I may do a walk in but it was wall to wall sick people and almost closing time. Well I just wanted to get out of thier and not catch anything. Also truely I did not think my lungs were the job of the ENT anyway.

So I waited until today to see the nurse practitioner. she is not in on Thursdays but I did get into see her today. So she wrote me several scipts and said if that does not help you know where the emergency room is. Clearly she did not care for the wheezing very much.

So based on that I think I have influenza A or I am having an allergy problem and will soon come down with influenza A from being exposed at the docotrs office.

Editing to add that it is probably the H3N2 strain of the influenza A virus. Did some checking and that seems to be the more popular influenza A virus going around at presant time. Also my sister said on the paper work it did not say the H1N1 2009 virus, I guess the paper work has a place of it's own for that.

Yes I had my flu shot this year and last year. I just think that my flu shot worked better last year than what it is this year. Sigh!

I have had the other flu already this year more that once. I have not really had this sort of breathing difficulty from anything else this year. Also I have never heard this many people coughing so loudly. Also they are coughing barking in groups. Going to the doctors and being seen in groups.

Usually at the ENT you see one parent take a child into the doctor. I noticed them to have both parents. Also couples with no children. Yes the docs were calling them in by multiple names. A woman that complained of being sick from babysitting and her husband said he wrote on the questionier that asked what are you being seen for he answered I am not sure but I am dieing from something.

Last time I was sick people were coughing alot at the pharmacy but it was quiet next to what is going around this time. I think the flu has evolved some, just my opinion or personal take on things. Well I plan to recover from this quickly. That is the plan.

Mostly I have been busy reading about Japan. I know much more about what is going on in Japan than I know about anything else these days. Bless thier hearts. Also I think I have read every article from every news paper on the planet.

I have become a scholar on who has the most current updates on situations still different reporters may have different things to say so I just read them all.

I truely think that Japan shares more information with us than any other country ever has. I feel a connection to the people of Japan and I have faith in them. The power plant well I have no idea but I certainly do not blame anyone. I have to wonder under simalar circumstances what would happen if we faced something like this in our own country?

Well if it came down to it I would try to help but i would need alot of prednisone to work that hard.

I mostly have been worried about the people in shelters and hope that if they go out and get thier own food and water from the land that it remains healthy for them to eat.

I understand the need for nuclear power. One thing we as human race need to understand is that we need our farm land to feed the world. So I think we need to really explore the aspect of insuring that we do not damage our worlds farmlands.

We have better medicines, better comunications and we live longer because of it. If we can not eat because we ruin the ground it will not mean anything to live longer. I am still leary of eating fish because of the oil spill. I guess I just wonder how selfish we are sometimes. Probably I do not wonder it often enough.
milly2011-03-19 05:52:05Well I still am not sure how the asthma is? When I finally did get some sleep and the pred wore off a little bit I was still having trouble breathing. So I have been making sure I keep a steady dose in my system.

I will probably go to the eroom when I run out of pred. I do feel some signs of improvement with ears and fever ect.. Maybe the asthma will clear up soon? I hope.

Trying not to worry so much about it because I am sick and that could be the cause. It is terribly out of the norm for me but with the body aches and sore throat ect. I thought I would try taking the meds and see how it goes.

I hate new unknown type of flu because I worry about family members and how they may respond to the virus. I think there has been three different flu viruses this year. I really do not know if I have the flu or just a bad infection and asthma. Also I could well be having a bad allergic reaction to something which can in turn cause an infection? What that would be I do not have a clue. So that could be a problem.

So my stress level has been a little bit on the high side. Basically I was told if the pred did not work to go to the eroom. So the pred is working. When I run out of pred I will need more so I will be going to the eroom in a day or two probably. Unless some miricle occurs between now and then.

I have to take twenty mgs of pred in the morning and twenty at night to breath so any sleep I get is greatly apreciated. Leviquin tends to give me insomnia also. I wonder if this is from my allergy shots? Just not sure?

Well I was getting the allergy shots to cut back on sinus infections. That theory does not seem to be working at all for me at the moment. So I certainly  am not going to get an allergy shot this week. They do not work for everyone. Just it sounded like a wonderful idea.

Well if I knew the cause of the asthma that would be a great start. I did not have a big sight reaction from the shot. I have had itchy elbows for a few weeks. Exzama type rashes and not to bad of a rash just enough to make me itch them several times a day. The pred has cleared that up.

Well there is some construction near by and it could be from that even.

The asthma just started after I got my last shot so I wonder? In the past I had bad awful sight reactions but never asthma from the shots. Honestly in the past the shots pretty much got rid of my asthma even for years after I quit getting them?

Well I hope this is a short term problem. It would be rather scary for this to be a long term problem. Time will tell.
Hope you feel better soon.

My son tested positive for flu on Monday.  Poor little guy.  He fell asleep on the table at the pediatrician's office.  He's been camped out on the couch all week.  On the way home from the drs office, we ran by Target for Gatorade and two new Nintendo DS games.  Dr. wrote a sick note for the week and we have to go back on Friday if not better.  He has some color back today, so I'm hoping he's recovering at this point.

You got alot going on.  Hopefully your drs will talk to each other so you can feel better soon!
Must be terrible depending on others to keep you alive merely because you are to ignorant to take in proper nutrition.Ron, was that rude remark really necessary?  Is is impossible for you not to act like a man and be civil as I too am getting tired of your immaturity.  Grow up man, show some dignity.

Milly I think Influenza A is a virus and the only prescription treatment is Tamiflu, which has to be taken in the first couple of days.  Did she do a nose swab and test for it?  It only takes a few minutes.  Did she really give you an antibiotic for the flu virus, because that is just not right, so I might be misinterpreting, which happens alot at my age.  Hope you feel better, and your son too Rebecca.  Dabby
People that treat their bodies with respect do not need doctors for the flu because the body is capable of handling it on its own. Running off to the doctor for chemicals is dangerous to the body and is a danger to society as the bodies become weaker and weaker and pathogens get stronger and stronger. Depending on overpriced white coats and drugs is not good for our society and also causes insurance premiums to skyrocket so that when a person is really sick they can not get good medical care because all these chronic sickos are milking the system. So if you don't like what I have to say thats too bad.True, there is not much that can be done for the flu.  A virus needs to run its course.  However, as a parent, I think it would be irresponsible not to take an obviously very sick child to the dr.  I honestly thought he had strep.  Strep throat, left untreated, is very dangerous.  That strain of bacteria likes to travel to the heart.  Also, my son spikes very high fevers.  This has been since he was an infant.  High fevers (104-105) can lead to dehydration.  Dr. had him come back twice this week just to make sure he was fighting off the virus and not becoming dehydrated.  We managed to handle it with Gatorade.

I agree that one needs to respect their body.  But I think part of that respect means a trip to the dr when something is obviously wrong.  The dr can make the diagnosis and then hopefully prescribe the correct treatment.
My sister said that the H1N1 has been ataching itself to the strep or vise versa. So instant double wamy.

I just got back from the eroom myself. They gave me a Kenalog shot. Breathing can be a good thing. Also they gave me some albuterol pills. He says he is at this point going to call it bronchitis.

What ever you call it all I know is a girl has got to breath.

I do not know if I had the flu or not? I had an infection and an allergic reaction. I was super over exposed to the flu but all I know is my ears really were inflamed and apreciated the abx. I am sure my lungs did also. I just need the swelling to go down in my resperatory system and I think I will be fine.

The docs prescibed both abx and tamiflu for my nephews. They both were sick with infection only one tested positive for influenza A. My mother got a secondary infection with the flu. The nephew that did not test postive for the flu did come down with the flu a week later. Kids they bring home two and three different things from school and it takes a month to run it's course between the the four kids and all the adults that love and take care of them.
Thanks Milly, I couldn't quite figure out what you wrote.  Hope everyone is feeling better.  DabbyHang in there Milly.. Hope things improve quickly!! and stay that way..

Rebecca... sorry your little guy is down under the weather.. It's so rough to see our young ones suffer..   keep yourself healthy!!
