I am so frustrated, my husband 2  years ago started having joint pain in his elbow, then moved to shoulder, fingers, knees, got so bad, saw his doctor, orthopedist, rhuematologist, many blood tests, MRI, xrays. They found water on his elbow, removed it. The rhuematologist put him on a steriod and anti inflamatory, helped for a while, but the side effects on the stereoid were too bad. The Rhumatologist did not believe he had RA but maybe some sort of arthtitis. DUH ..... this doctor basically sent us on our way. Now his family doctor took him off everything, and he now has leg edema and is on lasix to get under control. His knees and his legs are so sore he can hardly stand up. His thighs and calves feel like they are bruised all the time. The knees hurt, and he cannot get around hardly. They sent us to the hospital to check for blood clots because of the edema. Also did chest xray, moore blood work, etc. He goes for an echocardiogram this week. After all these tests are found negative so far. We are back to edema, joint pain, leg pain. If this is not arthritis, what could it be? We probably will be sent to another arthritis doctor, but have to find out what works as far as treatment. Can arthritis also make your legs feel bruised? He just can hardly stand up. This has gone from bad to worse in 2 or 3 weeks.  Any advice?DOCTORS ARE CLUELESS AND WILL HAVE HIM TRYING ALL KINDS OF DRUGS AND HE WILL START TO SPIRAL DOWN HILL. I WOULD SUGGEST HAVE HIM GO ON A RAW FOODS DIET AND START JUICING FRUITS AND VEGGIES. I WOULD ELIMINATE ALL MEATS AND PROCESSED FOODS, SALT,SUGAR,COLAS,COFFEE,GRAINS,BREADS, ETC. I AM NOT A DOCTOR BUT THAT IS WHAT I WOULD DO. MANY HAVE CURED THEMSELVES WITH JUICE AND SOME HAVE GONE ON JUICE FASTS AND HAD GREAT RESULTS WITH MANY KINDS OF DISEASE INCLUDING DIABETES AND ARTHRITIS. ANYWAY THATS WHAT I WOULD DO, AND YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO.ronbn562011-03-29 14:20:04[QUOTE=DiannaRodgers]I am so frustrated, my husband 2  years ago started having joint pain in his elbow, then moved to shoulder, fingers, knees, got so bad, saw his doctor, orthopedist, rhuematologist, many blood tests, MRI, xrays. Finding a good Rheumatologist can be very hard,  don't stop looking!
A good RD in my opinion, doesn't disgnose on test results alone.
Don't give up.  Early, aggressive treatment can put RA into remisssion
