How can I fix my Iron deficiency.  Last week l has a co-worker take me to the doc because i was real dizzy after standing and walking about 10 feet.  Doc told me "It could be that" with my Anemia blood went to the brain but it didn't have oxygen traveling with it.  I really need to try and maybe not fix this problem but eleviate some of the symptoms I have been having.  I know I need to take Iron but it constipates me so bad I'm down to just one pill a day.  Someone told me stool softners may help.  Can anyone give me some give me the name of some good IRON pills and or softners that will really help my problem.  My Iron levels are low like 10.

DX RA
Meds Orencia, Prednisone, Vitamin C, D, Iron,
I went through that as well a while back.  I'd just ask your pharmacist what he/she would suggest.  The stool softeners did the trick for me while taking iron pills. The trick is stool softeners and Kelstev is right, talk to your pharmacist.  Good Luck.  LindyAlkalized blood carrys much more oxygen than acid blood. It is all tied together with the RA,the colon, and the entire body. Your entire body is sick and needs nurishment and minerals. Iron is just one of them. As some on this board think, just eat some pie and a few candy bars keep taking the drugs and everything will be just peachy. I have tried posting the answers you need but others just accuse me of being a pest. Stool softeners are totaly unnecessary with the proper diet, and most here suffer from constipation and or diarreha. If the colon is not right you are not right and useless stool sofeners are temporary at best.  Just another band aide approach like drugs. ronbn562011-04-04 11:13:02Once again talk to your pharmacist.  If you're taking oral iron there's no diet in the world that will help you if you become constipated due to the iron intake.  A diet of vegetables, fruit can assist the stool softener but a dietary change alone won't entirely help the constipation and in some case worsen the constipation.  Do a google search on diets when taking iron.  Lindy
Once again talk to your pharmacist. Lindy
MANY IRON SUPPLEMENTS CAN BE DANGEROUS BECAUSE MUCH OF IT IS NOT THE USEABLE ORGANIC BODY FRIENDLY TYPE OF IRON FOUND IN SPINACH AS AN EXAMPLE.SOME EVEN THINK IRON SUPPLEMENTS CAN HAVE AN ADVERSE EFFECT ON THE HEART. IF YOU LISTEN TO THE NUTS HERE LIKE LINDY SHE WILL GIVE YOU WRONG INFORMATION. TALKING TO A PHARMACIST ABOUT HEALTH IS LIKE TALKING TO A DITCH DIGGER ABOUT FINANCING A HOME. MIGHT AS WELL BE PISSIN IN THE WIND LIKE THE PEOPLE HERE POSTING THEIR NONSENSE ABOUT IRON AND STOOL SOFTENERS AND THATS WHY THESE FOOLS HAVE RA.
ronbn562011-04-04 12:50:37Sorry about the hi jack of the post, just listen to your doctor, follow instructions and I think your best bet is still talking to your pharmacist and making a decision based on the information you receive from QUALIFIED and experienced healthcare providers.  Don't rely on the forum or the internet but both can help you make your own decision.  Let us know how you do.  Lindy

Sorry to cause such a stir on the Forum.  I believe a part of what each one of you has to say.  I will research a little more and then decide.  Thanks.

some day you rude ignorant jack asses will realize i know what I am talking about. Here's an NIH site that explains anemia, treatment, and how diet can help, along with iron supplements.
