Bug bites or sores? | Arthritis Information

I woke up one morning with something like mosquito bites on my feet.  I also had one on my leg.  I had the door open because of the nice weather all the day before.

Well, they are not going away.  I am wondering if they are not healing because I am on methotrexate?  I am not sure if they are actually something else or just bites.  I do put the itch cream on them and it helps, but they are read and very irritated.

Any of you experience anything like that?
Well, in reading up on the MTX, it can cause skin rashes.  Perhaps that is what is happening.   I hope that's not it, AZ. How many bumps & how long has it been going on? AZ - I have bumps on my face, chest, and arms - that looked like bites, itched really bad and then it became a rash - it moves around in those areas and always starts as a bump and then becomes a rash.  Went to my PCP and he gave me zyrtec (spelling) and it has really helped all he could tell me was that it's an allergy - I don't take mtx so that's not it.  He said if mine came back after a week he'll send me to an allergist.  Hope yours gets better soon.  Hugs and good vibes.I haven't had bites that didn't heal on metetrexate but I've had skin cancer and every few months I get zapped with liquid nitrogen to get rid of pre-cancerous lesions. It takes forever for these wounds to heal.  Also, if I get a scratch or small cut, even a paper cut, I have to be very careful that it doesn't get infected. It takes a long time for any of these wounds to heal.  Metetrexate is mainly to blame but I think enbrel does the same thing.  Have you tried Benedryl cream for the itching?Well, I am going to take some Benadryl this afternoon when I get home from work.  They have gone down, but I have a couple on my arm now!  Sigh...I have an appointment on the 25th, so perhaps she can give me some advice then. That really bites! No pun intended. I hope you get to the bottom of what's causing them.I have a few like that and I dont think they are from bugs. I am not sure what it is. They just came up and itched at first but not anymore.okay i was diagnosed beginning of july 05 i had a few insect bites that spring and some since diagnosed i welt right up and it lasted awhile it is our ra bodies...teresa   It's so funny but I've got these little red bumps on my arm that look like insect bites. At first there was only one or two and now I've got a little patch of six bites with red rash around them. They don't itch but they don't want to go away either! Will show them to the RA doc to see if it's a reaction to my Meds. (I'm on mtx.)

MarisaIt is spreading all over my body now to my legs and arms.  It isn't helping with Benadryl either.  I will see the doc on the 25th.  I hope it gets better.  It is starting to look terrible and spreading. AZ, I know it's weekend, and a holiday, but this isn't good. Don't wait until the 25th until you call the doc. Don't take anymore MTX without the doctor's approval. This is starting to sound like a drug reaction. Good luck, girl! Hi AZ, I agree with Fiona get yourself to the Drs I wouldn't wait until the 25th especially as its spreading.  Good Luck! Arizonara, how are your bites? Are you feeling any better?

Surprisingly they are calming down.  I am keeping them dry and my skin moisturized.  I also took Alavert to see if it is an allergy and it seems to be helping.  I read up on rashes and I suspect it is the heat and the sweating from the pred or the mtx.  If I don't get worse, I am going to ride it out.

I will let you know what I find out.
Good luck. If they come back or get worse I wouldn't wait til the 25th . It does sound like a drug reaction. You could always check with the pharmacist or Doctors on Duty if you can't get through to your own doctor.
