Bad day | Arthritis Information

Hi,
It's cold and rainy out and my joints are complaining. The worst part is that my ankles are very swollen. I look like I have a spare tire around them. It hurts to bend my feet. I have no engery and I'm dragging. I feel awful!!!
The last time I felt this bad was last year around this time. It was before I saw the RA doctor. After she checked me out, she started me on the mtx, 6 tablets at once, every week and 1mg of folic acid. After 2 months, I was feeling so much better. Then my insurance dropped my RA doc. So this year, I got a new RA doc and he said that I don't have RA. He took me off the mtx but after complaining put me back on it. I'm taking 2 tablets at once, every week and no folic acid. This new low dose of mtx w/o folic acid isn't making me feel better.
If this isn't RA, then I can't think of what else it may be. Sorry about complaining but I had to talk to somebody. Thanks for letting me cry on all your shoulders.

Marisa

PS: It's taking me forever to post this as I'm getting brain dead too!

I am sorry you are in so much pain.  I wish I could make it go away, but here is a rose for you I hope it helps to make it feel alittle better.  memeSorry you're having a bad day. The rainy weather can really make things worse. Sounds like you need to be on more metetrexate and also folic acid. Does your new doctor know that you were on more MTX earlier? Folic acid is cheap and over the counter. Might be worth a try with the help of a pharmacist who could suggest the right dossage for the amount of mtx you're taking. My suggestion is to find another doctor. If one won't help you try another. my first primary said all my blood work is good you dont need to take any meds. I changed doctors immediately. I told her everything she put me on meds and did blood test and sent me to a Ra doctor.   To Meme, Thanks, I love the cat W/ the rose.

Crunchy, I take Centrum Silver and eat whole grain bread daily, so I'm getting folic acid.

Linda, RA doc knows what dosage I was taking before but b/c blood work wasn't showing a RA factor.....

Phxgirl, Wish I could change RA doc, but I have a HMO health plan and if I go to another out of plan doc, I have to pay out of my pocket. Right now, I'm drowning in debt from my two surgeries and the lawyer fees. If I loose my case, then I have to pay for the medical bills.
So I'm stuck!

   MarisaMarisa Sue,

I just wanted to say I hope today was a better day for you. I'm sorry to hear you had a bad day. I had a bad day too and now things have improved some.

And have a good day tomorrow.
