Ever feel that you walk alone, a bit like being on a deserted Island.

Some times that’s how I feel with having  RAD (Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease).  People look at you and say “you look all right”.
Why thank you one might reply.
Little do they know that with RAD,  depression can be part and parcel with the disease.

Fatigue is another that accompanies this disease where one has to fight very hard to get things done.

With me the fatigue can come on very suddenly and I just have to stop what I am doing and take a breather.

On other occasions fatigue can hang around for days on end, if not weeks.
The longer fatigue hangs around the more likely depression can set in as well.

On top of all that you have those aches and pains to deal with.
I’m lucky in that my medications have things pretty well under control.
I feel for those that are still searching for the right combination of  medications.

When I took this image I was feeling a bit down and decided to try and capture an image of how I was feeling.
The following image that has been worked in Painter is the result.

Very well said Stephen and once again, a beautiful picture.

As always, a good pic, Stephen.  I've been fortunate to eventually have a combo of meds that  work pretty well;  and the arthritis sites and the friends I've made (including some in Aus. that I've met "in the flesh" as well as online, have helped.  One day I might even get down your way -  or across the ditch to see Kiwilass     - but not during winter months   - too jolly cold   lol!  Great self-portrait! It captured your feelings perfectly...and I've been on that Island before. OOOOH Stephen that is beautiful! You do great work. Great picture, you're a talented photographer.

Speaking of "Island", I think it's time for this forum to vote a few people off. [QUOTE=Dachie Mom]Great picture, you're a talented photographer.

Why did you feel it necessary to muck up a perfectly nice thread?  Speaking of trolls, you have no trouble telling other people what to do but have a lot of trouble following your own advice.  Until you know of what you speak, keep your mouth closed!
A wonderful self portrait, I don't see the depression but a spirited move by a person to overcome and move forward.  Lindy[QUOTE=TeedOff][QUOTE=Dachie Mom]Great picture, you're a talented photographer.

How childish you are Dachie. For one who is SOoooooooo against disruption to this forum you sure know how to get it back on track, Congratulations.

Seems your sh*t is hitting the fan!

Sorry Stephen!

Gorgeous photo as usual and I haven't forgotten to get one of my old boy to you, just cant find the photo I need. Moving house and still having boxes we haven't checked yet is why. Welcome back Stephen! Take it easy until you get your mojo back! Wow Stephen that is really beautiful. Hope you were able to clear your head and gather your thoughts while gone to the point you feel better soon.Thank you, I try to use visualization to help convey my story.

If I were to construct an image for the way I feel now it would be of nuts and bolts scattered across the floor.
Not a good morning at the moment.

The sun will shine,   yes it will.
Hi Steven,

I went and looked at your web site. You do beautiful work! I was amazed, awed, impressed and some photos just made me want to sit and stare at them for minutes on end. I actually lost track of time while I was viewing your art.

I'm glad you struggle to get out of the depressive state RA can sometimes put us in. I struggle daily with lack of ambition, lack of energy, lack of pain control, etc. Not a good time to be dealing with this since I am trying to establish myself as an elite baker. Luckily for me; I have a business owner/friend who supports what I can do and what I can't do on any given day. He doesn't rush me for products; knowing my limitations. Some days it's a slow process just to decorate cup cakes. Most days, kneading fondant is out of the question!

I wish for you many pain free periods where you can continue to spread your inspiration to me and others.
Neat post NJ!  Totally agree with you about Steven's work. It's very impressive.  And I guess a great positive motivation for using his talents to express his feelings in the bad times as well as the good.   As with your baking skills, we all need physical challenges that encompass doing something we love to do and express ourselves!  Sometimes the going gets pretty rough, but what a great feeling I get when I am challenged either physically or emotionally and manage to find a way around that challenge!

You are sooo right when you say it's a matter of knowing your limitations,  and it's also adapting and accepting "where you are" on any one day!  An an extra blessing to have others in your life accept that on a day to day basis as well!
