Dental issue and Arthritis | Arthritis Information

I'm never to the group.

I recently has a dental checkup and had a bunch cavities when the doc suggested were caused by a dry mouth, which I understand to be a symptom of the arthritis. I also have mess-up rotator-cuff and other frayed tendons in in my shoulder, so brushing my teeth is painful and difficult (I'm putting off the surgery for now).

Does anyone have any experience in having dental work covered under the medical portion of your health insurance?

Thanks.
Hi Chet! I don't have any experience with having dental work covered under my medical insurance, but just wanted to say welcome to the forum! I hope someone here will be able to answer your question...have you been officially diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis or sjorgrens? With insurance companies, it's all about the proper documentation, so if you have been diagnosed with these auto-immune disorders, it probably wouldn't hurt to have your rheumatologist write a letter to your dental insurance company. It certainly never hurts to try! Good luck!
Bump good point, cjmazur!Good luck.  I will follow this.  I really don't think the medical part will cover this,  I have some dental ins but doesn't really cover much.  Has a 00 per year limit--in dental issues--that is nothing.  I have dry mouth too but I always have a water bottle with me and sip water.

Please keep us all informed.
