Hello, I have a few questions. | Arthritis Information

I am about to turn 27. I have had gout for about 4 years. I was officially diagnosed 2 years ago. I have worn out shoes sideways due to the awkward limp I get during a flare up. Perhaps the most annoying part, I get my flare ups in either of my big toes.

After, the initial diagnoses I was prescribed a short term pain reliever that I went threw quickly and was told to return if another flare up came up.

Naturally, I have had several flare ups since then. And, in my own way decided to deal with it rather than go back.

Recently, my wife forced me to the good old doctors office on the tenth day of a flare up. This time I left with a prescription for Allopurinol 100mg and a 10 day supply of Indomethacin 50mg.

That was about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I started that prescription immediately. I am still feeling the stinging and occasional immovable pain that I know to well at this point.

Two days ago, something changed. For the last couple mornings and occasionally during the day, I feel a snapping in the big toe. The pain feels better after I snap past it. Has anyone else experienced that?

Later this year, we are planning a Disney World vacation with my two little ones. I am currently terrified that a flare up of mine will kill that vacation. Does anyone have any suggestions for preemptive treatment?

I think that is long enough for a friendly hello.Hello,
