Hi Lindy! Just thinking about you and hoping things are improving and that they're treating you good in the hospital. Being a nurse myself, I know how hard it is to let go and be the patient, but let them take care of you! And update us when you can!
Hi Gale, I was discharged about 5 pm yesterday, had dinner out, came home and cuddled my DH and kitties and was in my own bed by 10 pm.  After being treated for antibiotic resistant pneumonia for 3 months by my primary,  my pulmonologist ordered a cardiac echo and consult.  I'm scheduled to have a heart cath/angiogram on May 13th.

Apparently my left ventricle is only pumping at about 35% and that has caused the lung problems.  The hospitalist, pulmonologist and cardiologist all agreed that the biologics have caused this.  I have no other risk factors, don't smoke, drink and my choles and LDL/HDL ratios are good.  Other than that I'm fine!!!!

Stunned by the diagnosis but I'll do what's necessary to feel better.  I have an appt with my RD to discuss any options that are left for me.  I can't even use MXT and have come off Celebrex.  It's going to be an interesting journey.

Thanks for thinking of me.  Something you'll find interesting - they're going to do the heart cath and access the artery at my wrist site instead of the groin.  There's only one cardiac surgeon in the area that does it and that's why I'm scheduled 2 weeks out.  Intersting.  Lindy
Lin!  so sorry you're having this issue... Glad you hear they released you Lindy. I know for myself, I get much more rest at home than in the hospital. Interesting that they're able to do your heart cath from the wrist. It's been over 10 years since I worked in the cardiac wing, so I'm certainly not up to date on the newer procedures. Are they still planning on doing the lung procedure...bronchoscopy or thoracostomy? Hopefully it won't involve a thoracotomy and VATS, but whatever it takes to get to the bottom of this. Take care, and if I don't talk to you before the angiogram, good luck! Hi Lin!
Sorry to hear about your current medical problems.  How scary to know they are from the biologics.  I am not on anything right now because of the s/e and risks involved.
I have never heard of them going in thru the wrist for a cath. I have heard thru the brachial artery, but not wrist.  I hope the results are good and you recover well.
Phats
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems I will keep good thoughts for you.    LinB, How interesting that they are going thru your wrist instead of your groin. Always something new on the horizon and I guess that is progress at work.
Lin, what do you think of the hospitalist? I find it strange not to have my own Doc.
Hoping everything turns out well for you. Scary that your meds caused this.
Hugs & prayers are on the way.
Jello, loved the hospitalist.  She knew quite a lot about RA/meds.  There's about 60% less complications with the radial artery cath.  Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts.  Lindy
