I was wondering if anyone here has had a wrist joint replacement?

I've had r.a. for years, but only recently found out that there even was such a surgery.......

I'd love to hear from anyone that has had this surgery.......Are you happy with it?  Are there limitations on what you can do?  Recovery time?  etc.

Thanks for any info. you can provide.

THAT SOUNDS VERY INTERESTING,I COULD SURE USE A JOINT REPLACEMENT FOR MY LEFT WRIST.

I TO HAVE HAD R.A. FOR YEARS,HAD A FUSION ON MY RIGHT WRIST
SEVEN YEARS AGO THAT ELIMINATED THE PAIN ,BUT TOOK ALL RANGE OF MOTION AWAY.

I,VE BEEN PUTTING OFF HAVING THE LEFT WRIST DONE,CANCELLED AN APPT WITH A SURGEON A YEAR AGO,I THOUGHT IT OVER AND DECIDED WHAT MOVEMENT I HAVE IS BETTER THAN NONE.

GREAT TOPIC MARIE,KEEP ME POSTED PLEASE.

GAFFFrom the # of replies, I'm thinking that it musn't be a very common procedure.  I wonder why?  I've often heard of people getting fusions done in their wrists, but wonder why the joint replacement seems so uncommon. Wrist replacements aren't all that common in the US because they are a bit more complicated than replacements of larger joints.  A close friend of mine asked her ortho surg. about the subject and he said they are normally not done except at the larger places such as Mayo, Johns Hopkins etc.
