Sudden episodes of fatigue...anyone else? | Arthritis Information

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing better and having more "good" days than "bad" as I have been having .

Would like to know if anyone else has experienced this before...(I have Psoriatic Arthritis and take Methotrexate by injection)...I will go "weeks" feeling pretty good, with just occasional pain in a couple of my fingers, have lots of energy, and then "suddenly" out of nowhere...have a hard time getting out of bed and feel "extremely" fatigued...this fatigue is usually followed by a flare-up, however today has been THE worst so far in months...I had wanted to post this for hours, and just now was able to get up to do it....any advice?

Thanks,

Sandy.
Hi Sandy! Sorry you're going through a rough time. Are you taking just Methotrexate, or are you on a biologic as well? Sometimes it takes a combo of both to get the flares under control. Be sure and mention the frequent flares to your RD the next time you go. I have two friends with psoriatic arthritis who are on Remicade and Methotrexate and are doing wonderful. Fatigue is an ongoing problem with people who have AI diseases, but it shouldn't be debilitating. All this should be discussed with your Doctor. Good luck, and let us know how it goes. Bumping this up! This might be of some help

Sandy.
Hi Sandy

From the first time I was diagnosed with RA right up to now, fatigue has been my RA bane. I suffer from more fatigue than I do pain at times.  There is something we can do to take the edge off from the pain but when RA fatigue hits me.  There is nothing I can do but give in and let it go....I no longer try to fight it...  so my advice is...don't fight it.  If you do, it just gets worse.

Your explaination of what fatigue does to you is almost the same with me and when it's really bad I know there is a flare on the way.

RA does effect us all differently.  It would be very interesting to see how many of us suffer from RA fatigue and how often

I've heard from some members that have tried Provigil to help with the fatigue. I've not taken it myself, nor discussed it with my RD, but would love to hear from those that have taken it. Like waddles, some days the fatigue is actually worse that the pain, and the only thing that helps is to give into it and rest.

I forgot to mention, that after my horrible fatigue episode (which luckily only lasted one day) I woke up with a severe arthritis flare up...

Like Waddles mentioned, it would be interesting to learn how many of you have this pattern?

Thanks and MANY hugs to all!

Sandy.
