Had my BP checked yesterday. 148/70. Dr said it was high. I have to stop Ibuprofen for awhile. Losing 15 lbs also. Have to start a different excersise program. Anybody else. Is this a high BP ???  6t5frlane2011-06-02 04:28:45

It's boarderline high.

My cardio says any top number that is 140+ or lower number that is 90+ is considered high.  They don't have to occur at the same time.

Why do you have to stop the ibuprofen?  I'm taking it due to bouts of pericarditis in the past.  My pressures have been running in the 160's and 170's.  Cardio thinks this is due to pain and discomfort.  I take a beta blocker already and she is waiting to add a bp med.  I'm 34 and not overweight.  She feels it is due to the ra.

Keep an eye on your pressures.  I have a bp monitor at home and I'm to check it am and pm and record it.  I call and leave a message at the dr every other week.

Exercise is a good idea for anybody.  I'm glad it's summer since we live at the pool.  I do need to get in shape.

Hope you bp behaves itself.  RA can definitely affect the heart.  Keep an eye on it.

Thanks, Yup Am eating less amd moving more. Will keep an eye on itIt's considered high now because the BP numbers have changed recently.  This used to be considered normal/borderline.  Doctors are really aggresive about BP now, much nore aggressive than when I started BP meds.  Exercise will probably help as much as anything.  Take care.  LindyI have had high bp since I was 29, and I am 57 now. They used to treat bp if it was 140/90 and considered that borderline. Now, my doc says, they consider anything higher than 120/80 as high. When I was first diagnosed with hypertension my bp was 170/110. Yikes! It runs in my family. Diet changes don't help my bp...probably because it is the inherited variety. Best Wishes, V
