Hang in there, Bodak - be proud that you have survived being 'fagless' until now.  My hub gave up smoking over 30 years ago (after a few tries) and it is something he is so very proud of.  Sometimes he catches a whiff of a particular brand of cig that he particular liked, but knows full well that just a couple of puffs and he'd be hooked, just like an alcoholic with drink.  So . .  I do hope you can completely give it up. Hang in there...It will get better! Hey Bodak good luck with your quest.  I am having a very hard time quitting.  I know with RA, it isnt good to smokeStephen, GREAT!!!! You're over the worst of it.  I quit cold turkey in 1985 and it took a month to get over the physical addiction to nicotine.  Even now if I see a red Marlboro pack I want a cig.  Strange after 26 years that I still have a mental crave for the things.  You'll feeel better, smell better and be more kissable!!!  LindyHang in there Stephen! It's not an easy quest, but you can do it!! You've already got a good jump start on it, don't relent now! Hang in there Stephen!

It helps me to imagine eating a cheese burger out of a dirty ashtray to get those cravings to go away at the moment I am having them. Picture it, imagine the smell of the melted cheese and quality beef mixed with ashes and old butts. Imagine licking that filthy ashtray, as you would lick the juices of the burger running down your hand. Imagine chewing on the filter of a cig, mixing in with whatever condiments you prefer on your burger.

Pretty gross, eh? But it works for me.

My freind says that using a straw like a cigarette works for her. Just suck a puff in and give it a long exhale, and don't forget to tap the ash off, like you normally would. She says going through the motions of smoking really helps her not to light up!

I hope you don't struggle too long with this. I hope my suggestions help, too.
Hi,
Hang in there buddy. for the sake of kissing someone who is dear to you please do not smoke! The bad breath just kills me! To cap it all you need to stay healthy and toxins free ! Punch a bag, exercise until you sweat, chew gum,  anything but do not smoke.

I was just reading thru the topics and went to reach for a ciggy.
I did not light up, rather just popped my thoughts on the board.

Am giving this a real go....  For the most part it is easy, but then come the little devils
with their lighted pitch forks offering me a puff.
Stephen, I hope you didn't have that smoke, the feeling is past and you are enjoying breathing deeply.  Turning my back on smoking, I believe, has saved my life... It was also the most difficult thing I have ever done and, at times, is still a struggle with temptation these many years later.  Good luck to you and keep up the good fight!  Many years ago when I quit smoking, I used sunflower seeds and jolly ranchers as a diversion. The sunflower seeds kept my hands busy, and sucking on a sour jolly rancher helped with the notion of wanting something in my mouth. Probably not the healthiest way to quit, but it totally worked for me! Good for you Bodak! Terrible, terrible habit! My Dad passed with emphysema and even lit up with the oxygen mask on. Could have blown us all up, but I guess we were under God's wings and I hope you are too Bodak.
Hang in there with both hands.
