Does anyone suffer with sore tired eyes after taking mtx? I take my dose on a Thursday evening, took advice from board members to take it at night and to eat a tea with protein in beforehand. I've been on it since sept 2010, had a dose increase last year and things are really settled compared to before. However, by Friday afternoon (I finish work at 1.00pm each day) my eyes sting, they are blurry and it's all I can do to keep them open for my journey home. Is this a common reaction? My dose is small 15mg, with a folic acid tab everyday apart from mtx day.Hi, Sarah. I have not had that reaction with MTX, but I do have dry, itch eyes, and my mouth is dry all the time. I drink a lot of water and I have hard candy around all the time. My rheumy specifically asked my about dry eyes, and told me to use lubricating drops. She told me it is part of my RA. You prorbably should tell your doc about your symptoms. hi sarah, I have been on MTX since2010, I take 8 on sundays, I feel good by Monday but I also have dry eyes.  I have been wondering about it, but your post helped a lot.  Thanks

Sarah, you probably need to talk with your RD about this.  I have eye issues but they were caused by steroids and RA.  Sometimes it's difficult to differentiate between medication side effects and RA complications.  You may have to see an eye doctor also.  I was on MTX 20.5 mg. injections for many years and it doesn't appear that MXT was the culprit.  LindyHi Sarah,

Your reaction to MTX is something that i have not heard off i experienced alot of fatigue at the beginning but it eventually wore off. I hope you get over this reaction soon alternatively, ask your rheumy what can be done in your situation.

Thanks to all for your input. I have an appt. With the GP on the 7th will bring this up then. My eyes aren't dry or itchy just so tired and achy, almost like when you have a head cold and the pressure from your sinuses builds up behind the eye. I have had a reminder to go for my annual eye exam so think I'd better go and get that sorted to. It never ends, I feel like theres always something up at the moment
