It is not usual for me to have a funny day at work. Most of my co-workers are always fighting for one reason or another. But, not today. Today, it was just me and another girl working. It was so nice and quite but still very busy. Problem is, the woman I was working with is scared to death about answering the phone. Her job is to answer the phone for the first half of the day, while I run like mad. lol
I work in Health Records at our local hospital. We get calls from all over the hopsital, and today a doctor called for some charts he had been missing. Of course, my nervous co-worker had to be the one to recieve the call. She picked up the phone and started to write down the numbers to the charts he needed. When he was calling them off too fast, she thought it was a joke. (We joke around with each other too, and EVERYONE in the hospital knows how nervous my co-worker is). Suddenly, she stoped and said "Ok, stop your bull*****ing with me!!! Is this a joke? I am so f***ing tird of these pranks!" Shocked she said this, I sat down next to her to help her through this call. lol
She was having fun though! She was laughing to herself and though she had caught the person who was callig her. Her face dropped when the man on the other end said "No, this is NOT a joke! I'm doctor Vienneau and I have a clinic in Psychiatry. Where are my charts?????! Do you normally talk to doctors in this manner?? What is the name of your supervisor?"
From my end, all I saw was my co-worker go pale, and turn really serious (up until this time, I though it was one of the girls upstairs joking with her. Even I was laughing a bit...but still shocked at the language my co-worker used.).
My co-worker started to studder "Oh... um... Dr. Vienneau.. I am so sorry... ummmm". And she cups her hand over the mouth piece of the phone, and hands the phone over to me! She was mouthing "It is Dr. Vienneau!!!! He is from Psychiatry!!!!!!".
Of course I am there going "No way! I am not taking that!!" She goes and tells off a doctor, and then hands it to me?? No way! We argued over who was going to even touch the phone next, when I get all my courage up, and take the phone. "Helllooo?" I said in this small voice. I thought I was going to get all the yelling and telling off after she told him off! Surprised, the voice asks for her to come back on the phone... turns out that we were getting some construction done in our department upstairs - it was only one of the construction workers playing a joke on my co-worker! It was a good one! Both of us were very happy to be wearing some good brands of deodorant that is for sure!
WOW all that and no one got fired...Interesting.
That is what I thought! I would never had said that kind of thing. She is very very lucky. It was so unlike her though. The day today was full of weird things like that. Sometimes, I thought I was dreaming because everything seemed so out of wack... That would have been quite the scare. Hmm...I wonder why she does that kind of work if she's afraid to answer the phone
She is darn lucky...to say the least.
