and NUMB. I went to work this morning. I pull into the yard to get my truck and the big boss is there. I didn't think anything about it until I saw the look on his face. He said I am to take a paid leave from work until they decide what to do with me. He said I will have to see their doctors and their decision will depend on doctors determination. I am drained. I tried so hard. I don't know what is going to happen but I am scared. It is so unfair. I was doing my job. They are afraid I am going to get a workman's comp. injury. Anyone can get a workman's comp injury, with or without ra. I am not thinking straight. I will check back in when my head clears.
Don't get yourself too worked up...you know what the stress will do. Use this time to take care of yourself, Roxy.
Kelly
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO PEOPLE CARING FOR OTHERS. IT JUST FLOORS ME THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS AFTER 17 YRS YOU SHOULD BE PUT ON LIGHT DUTY. WHEN I LEFT MY JOB LAST SUMMER AFTER 15 YRS MY BOSS HAD THE NERVE TO ASK SOMEBODY THAT I KNOW IF I WAS FAKING IT. THESE PEOPLE JUST DO NOT GET IT HERE YOU ARE DRAGGING YOUR BODY TO WORK AND FORCING YOURSELF TO DO THINGS THAT HURT SO BAD AND NOW THEY DO THIS I AM BEHIND YOU 100% REMEMBER THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON IT WAS TORTURE FOR YOU AT WORK SO JUST SEE WHAT HAPPENS AND GET SOME REST.TERESARoxy - you did your job. It hurt like hell, but you did it. Seems to me they'd better be taking care of you and not causing you more grief, or you have actionable cause. This IS what the disabilities act should protect you from. You have done nothing wrong. You are working in spite of extreme pain. YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG!!!!!!!!!Hi Ya Roxy: I agree with Kelly this could be a good for you. Make sure that the Dr. that they're sending you to has copies of your med. chart from your rheumy. He should have all the information so he can make an intelligent, informed decision. You should have a copy of the medical chart also. Did you ask any questions when your boss presented this to you? How long will you be off, when is the appt., is it with another rheumy, what kind of decision are they looking at?
Have you gone back on Prednisone? You're going to need all your strength and mental facilities to help you through this and if you haven't gone back on the big "P" you should seriously consider doing so. If you don't have to deal with the pain and swelling then you can concentrate on your employment issues. You need to take as much control of the situation as you can. When you have control you have a certain amount of power and that can be used in your favor. RA is soooooo draining to the spirit and if you can get as pain free as possible that spirit can peek thru. This all my be good for you but don't let them walk all over you. You need to be a participant in the plans and actions of your employer.
Roxy, I'm so sorry this happened after you have been struggling so hard to make it through these two weeks. But I think you should be optimistic about what the final outcome will be. It may work out very well for you in the end.
Use this paid time off to gather together all of your employent and medical records, x-rays, test results and prepare yourself for the next step. I would also seek the counsel of an attorney who specializes in this sort of thing. I think it is a good sign that they want to "decide what to do with you". It shows that they know that they can't just lay you off or fire you. They will probably try to use the law to their benefit, you should be prepared and educated so you can do the same. The fact is, you were there ready to work, and they sent you home.
If you hold onto the goal of proving your case and attaining your goal of accomodations for your disability, it should be easier. Don't give up or give in. Fight for yourself they way you would fight for someone you love! You've certainly proven that you have the grit and determination needed in these past couple of weeks. You can do this girl!
Oh gosh Roxy, this is heartbreaking news. You have given it your all Roxy and that is about all you can do. Guess I would not be a good supervisor because I could not do what I am sure he had to do. He has a job to do and probably a supervisor giving him orders. Life is full of challenges Roxy and we all get out share and hopefully we can learn something from them all so that we can be a stronger person. If it's any consolation Roxy, everything happens for a reason. I am sure that you have been told that before, but as time goes on you will come to realize that it's true and when you look back on it all you will be saying HMMMMMMMM, so that 's why it happened. Hang in there girl, you have what it takes to overcome this bad news. Seeing an attorney might be a good idea as Hillhoney said.Depending on what your doc says, they might be able to give you a different position that doesn't require too much physical activity.
Plus, if you were supposed to be off of work, then take this time to do it.
Roxy, I also think this could be a good thing, but I understand how hard it is. Since you love what you do, it would be hard to even think of letting it go. Take this paid time to get the rest you need and maybe this unbiased specialist could mean finding a way for you to keep your job, suffer less pain, and still enjoy the work you love so much. It must have been a shock to go into work and have the boss tell you this. Please keep us posted.
Roxy,
So sorry for what you are going through. But if the worse happens, and they say you can't work, it will make it much easier to get Social Security faster.
I know you don't want to do that. But you don't have to stay on it forever. Or, you can get it and work up to a certain amount of income and not be penalized. Eventually, you would get most of your medical paid for.
Now, the problem is how to you pursue your passions. Look at what you love about your job and what you don't. Consider what you are capable of and what you can't do.
You can still fulfill your passions and still help support your family. But don't kill yourself doing it. It may be a kindness in the end and not mean spirited. Or, it could be they are just protecting themselves. But the fact that they are going to pay for a certain time period suggests that someone is concerned for your welfare.
There's been a couple of time my boss has sent me home because she could tell I was just pushing too hard.
That doesn't make it any less frustrating and certainly not less stressful. So take few moments and consider what your heart wants most. Put it down on paper where you can look at it. You may surprise yourself.
Best of luck.
What a day you have had Roxy. One good thing is it's paid leave so at least while you are waiting for them to get you into their doc take the money and work on getting you to feel better. I have no idea if this is good news or bad but I have a feeling you and your attitude will turn this to your advantage! Did you let your union know about this? I can't believe they can't find a light duty job for you, but I guess they think it makes more sense to pay someone not to work. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. You take care of you and keep us posted. Hugs and good vibes. I really don't have any advice to add to what's already been said, except to say that something doesn't seem right. I have a sister with severe crippling in her hands and has had surgeries numerous times. She has steadily held a job for years. She's had to miss work on occasion sometimes a week or more at a time. So to me something doesn't seem right about your situation. I vote you should be able to work but it's not up to me.Roxy,
Sorry to hear about your job,but if it were me I would be making an appt to see my lawyer. I believe you have rights and by all means fight for them Good Luck Pat
Hi Roxy-so sorry to hear this happened to you. II can only imagine how difficult this is on you. Try not to forget that EVERYTHING in life happens for a reason. This too my friend is all part of God's plan for you. Try not to let the depression take over at this point.....this is out of your control right now. You've tried as hard as you can; now you just need to wait to see what door opens for you next.
