Glucosamine is an amino acid that is naturally produced in the body. Glucosamine is a precursor to a molecule used in the formation and repair of cartilage. Treatment with glucosamine is based on the idea that oral consumption of the substance may increase to rate of formation of new cartilage by providing more of the necessary building blocks. The recommended dose of glucosamine in 1500mg each day for one to two months. Ongoing treatment if often continued if results are favorable.

Anyone have any luck with this product? macAlly,  I have used glucosamine/chrondroitin for years.  It does help.  It's not a miracle drug that will take away the pain of advanced OA, but it does help.  I can tell a difference if I run out and go a few days without taking it.  My doctor said that clinical trials show it helps 60% of patients.  I was taking more than the 1500 mg. and he told me I was wasting my money taking more, because nothing is achieved by higher dosages. You should make sure you are also taking Chondroitin and MSM in conjunction with it.

What brand of Chondiotin do any of you take.  This product is not regulated by the FDA in the USA, so there can be products that say they are Chondiotin when they are not.   I heard on a program to find out what brands were used in studies of OA, but I have not been able to find any.

Thank you
