Knee Replacement Questions | Arthritis Information

I have a few questions about knee replacment.  My Mom and her doctor thought that she had OA in both knees.  However, recent MRI's suggest that she just has lots of damage, especially in one knee.  Cartilage is worn, ligaments torn, one knee cap is worn away on the underside, etc.  She is going to be going to a specialist soon.  But here are my questions:

1)How long do knee replacements last?

2)Can a knee be replaced more than once?

Thanks,

David
