Arthritis Information -Pseudogout

Share

I was diagnosed with Pseudogout several days ago. The right knee just
started hurting one night while I was watching TV. For no reason. Then it
swelled and had to be asperated twice. It has been VERY PAINFUL. Friday
they asperated it and shot it up with Cortisone, and it helped a great deal,
but I have so many questions-

I see the doctor on Friday, I hope he has more answers for me. I started
looking at the Arthritis foundation website for information. I have
googled a few others and it is pretty much the same answers. It can come
back at anytime in the large joints. I do not think aything can prevent it,
but the sites say that NAIDS will help with the pain and swelling. The
NAIDS made me queezy and worsened the ringing in my ears. I stopped
taking them.

I would love to hear back from you, It helps to be able to talk about it,
since I had never heard of it before.
Best wishes, Hope you feel better- I had to take 2 weeks off from work,
so I am sitting around in pain with nothing to do- but lots to get done!

Does anyone on this board have any knowledge about this condition?  I was diagnosed with this after going through a lot of medication (for Rheumatoid Arthritis). Once the swelling had left the majority of my body and was still prevelant in my knees, I had fluid drained from both and the condition came back as Pseudogout.

I was wondering if when you get the condition under control, do you have to do anything to prevent it from returning? It is considered a form of Arthritis and I understand it can mimick Rheumatoid Arthritis and that it is not Gout, due to the difference in the fluid crystals.

Thank you for any info you can pass along to me.
