Not the flu??? | Arthritis Information

OK  I have read many times that throwing up is NOT the flu.  The flu is in the lungs.  I threw up for two hours yesterday and have run a 101 fever all day.  I didn't take ANY meds, just wanted to give my bod a rest.  My question is - when do you start worrying after running a fever for two days?  No other symptoms, achey, queasy and fever. The flu is all of the above and then some for most people. There are hundreds of strains of influenza out there and every virus affects each person differently. As long as your fever isnt over 104 or you are able to control it with Tylenol and Motrin you are okay there. Because we have RA, it is always worth at least calling the RD just to see if they want you to come in or go to your PMD.  I would call first and talk to the doc or nurse, unless your intuitions tells you that you need to be seen. Only you know your body and if you feel nervous in any way, then go get a check up. Usually Dayquil and Nyquil work really good and liquids and rest.

Me and my kids and husband have all had the flu on more than one occaision and none of really had any bad resp. symptoms. Just upper resp junk, nothing deep in the lungs by any means. Most of the time the cough is the most annoying feature and the one that lasts the longest, but is the one of least concern most of the time. Hot liquids and lots of cough drops help.

The pukeyness...could be from the flu or some other random virus.

Flu can make you throw up.  It could be gastric flu (I had it about five years ago..............nasty), or it could just be as simple as (and I am sorry this is gross) swallowing a lot of cattarh if you have a chest infection.  Either way, you should probably get checked out just to be on the safe side.Roxy, Roxy, Roxy. You need a break, girl. You were supposed to have some time off to rest & get BETTER!!! You really should go see the doctor for this one, if you can haul yourself there.  I hope you are feeling better soon.  Is it possible that it is from a detox of no meds?  I would be careful just going cold turkey on all of those medications.  You should talk to your doctor.  That sounds awful.  I hope you feel better soon. Just woke up guys.  Two days, really really sick.  Must have been the flu.  Feel better this am.  Tummy still tender.  I was just worried about the fever.  It seemed to last forever but it was only two days.  I am so used to be in the 97.2 range since ra, I felt like I was burning up.  Anyway, I am resting up and I am going back on meds.  Thanks for the concern.  I think I am better

SPRING FEVER.  Life is good.  Dealing the best I can with RA.  Not worried about work, attorney is very confident they have no chance of letting me go, my fear - going back.  It feels so good not to suffer.  I sincerely believe that people with ra should have a choice whether they work or not.  It is such a struggle.
