Have any of you been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Vasculitis of the brain?  I was sent to a Neurologist who said my symptoms maybe just that.  Or, maybe not.  I will need to have a MRI to diagnose it.  And I was wondering if any of you have heard of it or know the symptoms?  I have read about it, but I always gain greater understanding when I ask you all.  Susan Lee

Vasculitis may also affect the brain, nerves, and heart causing strokes, sensory neuropathies (numbness and tingling), heart attacks, or heart failure.

I googled it because I wasn't totally sure myself. What type of symptoms are you having that concerns your doctor?

Susan; Please keep me updated on what's happening to you ok. I'm very interested in this problem as well. I have some nerve problems myself.

I'll keep you in my prayers Sweetie. Stay positive.

Lovie...Thanks for caring and writing me back.  Yes, my Neurologist is concerned about my brain as I had a mini stroke last week.  And I have an arm that has numbness and tingling and balance problems too.  I looked Vasculitis up last night and had already read what you sent.  She said it was serious and I can see that it is.  I am a very positive person and always thankful for my wonderful life.  But, this has really thrown me.  I am trying very hard to let go of the fear and resume my good attitude!  I am almost there!:)

Please write me back and let me know what is going on with you?  I so hope that this will not be something you have to deal with.   I would like to hear from you. Thanks for your prayers.  You will be in mine as well.  Susan Lee

What kind of part time work are you going to do?  I would love to work..I miss it so much.  But I have so many health problems I just cannot do it.  Please share your plan with me.  For the last few years I have been doing volunteer work at my own pace.  Just wish I could hold down a part time job.  Who knows someday it may happen! Take care and write when you can.  Susan Lee

I'm glad you enjoyed a beautiful day on the water. That is what I'm planning for tomorrow. The weather here is just lovely, so we will be heading out on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay.

You enjoy your weekend.

Trisha

Trisha...so glad you wrote to me.  Sounds like you are going to have a wonderful day tomorrow.  The Chesapeake Bay is supposed to be beautiful.  I love the water...it is so calming and lovely.  And I love hearing about it too.  So please write when you have time!  Susan Lee

LindaK..I just read your other post and I see you are a part time teacher.   Considering your RA it sounds like going to part time was your best choice.  Now you can rest when you need to, do what you love and get your benefits too!  How perfect! Keep in touch!  Susan Lee

I do (or did, I don't think I'll be physically able to anymore) love crabbing. We eat crabs all summer long. Catch them, steam them, & enjoy. I also catch lots of soft crabs. yummy. Nothing like seafood.

You take care & stay well.

Trisha

Trisha...Thanks for sharing your summer lifestyle.  I think it would be so wonderful to live on a boat.  And eating crabs all summer long is right up my alley!  I love seafood.  I live right near the Gulf in Florida.  We too eat seafood and that is our favorite!  What is it like to live on a boat?  I watched a program about it and I told my husband it looked like so much fun.  Please write more about it.  What a wonderful experience!

Hope you feel well too!  And enjoy your weekend!  Susan Lee

Last summer I have numbness in my lower legs and feet. I'd been on MTX for years without Folic Acid and my doctor thought adding that might resolve the problem. It has gotten much better since then although at times It still happens and my fingers will go numb at times as well. I also have a area between my knee and ankle on one leg that has severe numbness in it. It's been this way for years and at time casues me great pain as well. My RD suspects that it's caused by some nerve damage that was likely caused by some surgery I had years ago....but he's not certain. He's mentioned that I might should see a nurologist but I haven't done that and don't want to unless he insists which he hasn't considering the problems seem to come and go.

Over the past couple of months I've had a good bit of pain (Off and On) in my lower legs that seem to stem from my veins. I forgot to mention it to my RD last month since it wasn't bothering me the week I went. I researched a little and did read about inflamation in the blood vessels. Figured that wouldn't be such a stretch considering all the inflamation I have else where.

You keep us updated; ok? We're all anxious to understand what's happening with you.

Lovie

Great attitude and scary prospects for sure. I have some kind of problem with vasculitis. I do know that if you have RA, they will do a lot of extra tests and take things very seriously. They have scared me to death so many times.

Vasulitis is an inflammation of your blood vessels. It can affect your brain, your heart and your bowels. Mine shows up as blood blisters (kinda, it's wierd) on my body. The sun makes it much worse.

They did a colonoscopy on me once because they thought it might be occuring inside. Scary! No, it wasn't that. I had a common bacterial infection that antibiotics cleared up. Then, a couple of times, they thought I had blood clot in my lungs. No, I didn't.

Then, this week, I had to go to the ER because I was suddenly and ill to my stomach. Same thing, super serious. Not. Common virus. Pump me up with drugs and I'm up and going again.

I think you have an extremely good attitude about it. And, I hope that your test come out well. I'm just want to emphasize that while we must get to the doctor and have these tests done, it is often not the worse case scenario. Being very proactive can keep those things we fear worse at bay.

Good luck,

Deanna

Thank you everyone for all your carring and supportive comments!  And I so agree with all of you when it comes to a positive attitude.  Long ago I was asked this question... "With all the things that are wrong with your health, how do you keep on smiling?".  I said it was a "choice" I made long ago.  Either I was going to let my ill health take over my life or I was going to be thankful for each glorious day that God has given me.  That choice has carried me through all these years.  And I have truly had the best life!  Susan Lee

Deanna:  Glad you stomach is better.  Sorry you had to go through it but I am glad they took good care of you!  Susan Lee
