Celebrex :( | Arthritis Information

Hello :) I am 24yrs old and was diagnosed with RA about 4 yrs ago. I was put on ibuprofen for about 2 years and it tore up my stomach, also it seemed like my body became immune to it. So they started me on celebrex. It was soooo much better! And now i recently found out that medicare/caid is no longer covering it for me :( And at almost 0 a month I doubt ill be able to get it again. I recently got off it for a few days and it made such a difference, i was in a lot of pain :( I got back on it and I feel great again. Anyway, does anyone know of any other med that I could try, now that celebrex is probably no longer an option? I have a feeling that celebrex maybe next on the list of drugs we can't take anymore.  My insurance coevered celebrex but after they pulled bextra, which I was on, they would not allow any clients to get a new script filled for celebrex unless they had already been on it.  So this maybe why medicaid won't cover it.  You can contact the company, they do have programs to help patients with getting this med for either a lower price or for free.  Does anyone remember how to contact the makers for celebrex???Ohh ok, I just might have to do that. Well this is assuming I can't find anything else that will work for me. I mean I have to admit it does make me nervous taking a med thats about to be taken off the freakin market for being dangerous. But I hate living in so much pain as well so I dont know. But hey meme thanks, I will try to find out how to contact the celebrex manufacturer and see what options I have :) Thanks for replying! http://www.pfizerhelpfulanswers.com/

This is the lnik to Pfizer's programs for drug coverage.

                              Thank You Wayney

If anyone knew where to check I thought it would be you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey thats great, ill definitely be looking into those :) thanks! I know how you feel. Celebrex is the only thing that works for me as well. Good luck!

Is celebrax all you take for RA? Although this helps your pain it's doing nothing for long term joint damage. You're only 24 years old. Talk to your doctor about your future with this disease. I don't really know your situation but most of us here were started early on what they consider disease modifying medications to prevent future joint damage and to slow the progression of the disease. Celebrex is just for pain; if you've got RA you've got bigger problems than that.

I have heard of the controversy with celebrex and medicade. It seems that now that simular drugs have been pulled they've found this a good reason to deny these claims. It's very expensive. I did hear that there was something simular that they did accept; but I can't remember what it was or even where I read this. I'll try to figure it out and get you that information if I can retrace it.

Good luck to you...I hope you find a solution to your problem soon.

I just sent you a private message about celebrex. I just called my mom (another arthritis sufferer) and she takes clinoril (an NSAID). She said it is much cheaper ( for her prescription) and works well for her. I am going to ask my rheumy about trying that. I wish you luck in whatever you try! Love, juliahLast year when Merck pulled Vioxx, my rheumy put me on Artrothec, another nsaid which isnt too bad nor expensive ( think my rheumy saw which way the wind was blowing for Celebrex! ). Might be worth a try. [QUOTE=Lovie]

Hi,

I am on this Connection to Care program by Pfizer...visit this website and download a application..if your doctor will write a prescription, you can receive Celebrez for free if you met the requirements. I have no insurance, so I am able to get it this way. I don't know if it will help but ir is worth a try. Or you may call (800) 707-8990 and ask for an application.

Delenaj~

That's fabulous information!! There should be a section on this board to save information like that for future reference. We always seem to have people that have trouble getting their medications due to lack of health coverage.

Keep an eye out for those folks and re-share this information in the future with others.

Lovie
