Do you have pets? I've found that nothing can cheer me up or forget about my problems as well as my critters (Well, 2nd to my grandbabies). Having a cat curl up next to me and purr or better yet purr me to sleep, or a puppy plop in my lap and whan nothing in return except to be with you, oh and food! They've heard all my problems and been there thru my tears. Just curious if you all need your pets as much as I need mine? dbmy338844.6374537037YES!
Even when its been a rotten day and everything hurt, my dog is still there to cuddle and cheer me up, and never gets sick of listening! She always seems to know when I'm sick or sad too; she is a lot more cuddly and stays close by!

We have 2 yorkies that are just over a year old. They seem to know when I am feeling bad.  They are just as spoiled as our children. Our daughter came to visit with our 2 y/o and 9 month old grandchildren. Our grandson lost his pacifier , we looked everywhere for it . They stayed a couple of days . About 2 hours after they left for home, My Little boy yorkie (MAX) cames out sucking on the pacifier just like a baby. It was a hoot until our little girl yorkie (MAGGIE) wanted it too.The fight was on !!!  My husband had to go to Wal-Mart and buy a package of pacifiers for the dogs.  ANYWaY... When I feel bad they won't leave my side and they make me laugh.!!!I have a sign next to my door and it says: Cats are like potato chips you can't just have one!!!   So I have 5 cats and one dog.  I love my cats and love having them around, best thing for ya.  meme   I have 2 cats who don't know that they are C-A-T-S! Both are females and I call them "the girls". The oldest one, will be 13 next month, always can tell when I don't feel well. She will sit near me or follow me around so she can keep me in sight. At night, when I go to sleep, she will either curl up in her favorite spot in my bedroom or crawl under the covers to sleep next to me.
My other one is 2 yrs. younger and is a lap cat. Loves to be held and fussed over. The funny thing was when I had my hand in the cast, she seemed to sense that mommy couldn't hold her like she wanted. She would wait until I got settle in my chair and when I told her okay, she would hop into my lap. At night, she gets on top of the covers and will sleep on the opposite side of me from her sister.
Both of them bring me great joy and they can get me to laugh when nothing else can. I vent, talk, and treat them as if they are my kids.
I won't and can't give them up. They don't judge me when I can't do things. They just sit there with that look on their face that seems to say,"We love you."

PS: One is helping me to type this.
I have a grand dog that belongs to my daughter but stays with us for months at a time while she is tavelling. My daughter found her at 3 weeks running down the highway on the Mexican Highway and smuggled her into the US(no green card). I love her like crazy and she is so smart. She gets my paper in the morning, knows not to bother me when I'm in bed, and completely understands my moods. When she's hungry, she licks her chops to let me know. When I had cancer surgery on my face and was full of bandages, she didn't bother me to go outside. She just knew not to.  You are right, they are a real boon.2 dogs, 4 cats.  I don't think I could  NOT survive RA without them.  Especially since my hubby has to travel so much.  They also get my butt out of the house to walk the dogs

She can be running all over playing with her ball, but if she comes anywhere near me, she slows down and watches me so that she doesn't bump into me.

When I'm on the couch, and she jumps up - she kinda hops up... carefully.  When anyone else is sitting on the couch, she runs and jumps up - but not when I"m there.   She knows.

she' 72 pounds (a big poochie), so it's a GOOD thing that she's careful.

woobie

ALL my friends have cats...... they all have to come to MY house.

here's a pic of my chloe.........

i dont know why it doesn't work.  it worked when i was doing it!

My best bud is Davis, a hound mix from the humane society. He is so sensitive to my moods and knows when I am not feeling well. He also functions as my alarm clock (which is a definite plus!) We also have another dog, Delilah (my daughter's) and four cats named Higgins, Texas, Boone and Stacy. I really don't think I would want to have a home without animals, they are vital to me.We have two kitties & a guinea pig. The kitties were shelter cats. Liam is a huge, black, furry monster. My daughter picked him (black cats have trouble finding homes) - he was so big, he couldn't turn around in the cage. When he got home, he was EVIL. He clawed and bit and scratched and hissed. I decided that wasn't going to last. Took a year & a half to bring him around, but now, he's a big, wooly, friendly pud. He rolls over like a dog to let you rub his belly.

The other kitty was always a sweetheart. The piggie is 5 - we've had him since right after he was born. We had another guinea pig, also a shelter animal, until March, when he died. Mr. Biff was old and full of lumps & bumps from lipomas, but what a sweetie.

They keep me on a schedule - want to be fed & cared for. Plus all that love. Pets are wonderful.

We have 4 dogs and now we're down to one cat, Percy.  We used to have 5 cats, but the **** coyotes got the others.

She is a joy to have and takes very good care of the WHOLE Family.  She can tell when I or any of the families not feeling well.  She hangs around and follows you and waits tell I sit down.  If my hands are hurting...she'll kiss them...and if my knee is hurting she will kiss them too.  As if to say...Let me kiss it and make it all better LOL...

We went 4 years figuring out if we should get a pet or not...now we are so glad we did. We couldn't get a dog...my husband travels and my knees are not very good so...walking a dog just isn't for me.

I would love to have a cat. I would name it Moose. (Have the name all picked out already.) I can't while back at home though.

Also, I have always wanted a chocolate Lab. I would name him Hershey.

Here are 2 of my little ones when they were much younger.

Hey Kel, how come you can get your pictures to come up? Do they have to be a certain size or something?

I have two Boston Terriers named Rex and Rosie, who love nothing more than cuddling on the couch with me the day after my MTX.  I also have an African Gray parrot named George who always makes me smile with his gabbing.  Life would sure be dull without my pets.  Nothing like coming home from work to two dogs wiggling like crazy and a bird yelling "Hi George" cuz they're so happy to see you!

Guys in order to get your pic to show here you have to have them on a webpage like imagecave then type in the address into the image box.  Oh by the way my troop of cats are as follows.

SNOWWHITE, SAMMI, CUDDLES( OR PISSANT, DEPENDS ON WHAT HE GETS INTO THAT DAY), SALEM, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, PRINCESS LULABELL.  Our dog's name is SANDY  meme

I have a 13 year old cat and a 12 year old dog.  I have RA and both pets have some form or another of arthritis.  Oddly enough, some of the meds I take are also prescribed for the fur babies.  We comfort each other and, perhaps because all three of us suffer some form of arthritis - everyone can tell when one of us of is in a flare-up.  It's really heart-warming to see the cat, who typically ignores the dog, go lick the dog's front paws - which is where my doggy's arthritis hits him.  When I'm in a flare (it hits me hardest in my hands and feet) the dog will lay across my feet and give me this heartfelt look and the cat will put his paws on my wrist and lick my swollen joints.

Talk about feeling pampered!  I don't know if I give or get the most attention.  At any rate - my pets make like worth living.

Thank you - you are all such inspirations!

Hi all

am new to the boards and read all the wonderful pet stories.  I have a 6 yr old rottie named Sheba.  She has arthritis in her back and her back legs.  We each know when the other is having a flare up.  Lucky for her arthritis tylenol and a day of rest and she's up and running.

When I am not doing well, she lays on the floor in front of the couch and constantly watches me.  It's like she knows if its my hand, knees, or feet and licks them.

I talk to her, cry, vent or laugh and she's always there and never judging.  I think our four legged friends have more feeling than a lot of two legged ones I know

Now....about our pets. I have a big orange & white cat that my husband found at the pound. I wasn't interested in her AT ALL. It has been almost 3 yrs now & I LOVE Ms. Pumpkin soooo much. She sleeps right next to me & will purr all night. Two years this coming Dec. my husband gave me a Maltese puppy. I didn't want her or the responsibility of a dog. All I can say is I LOVE her. She is just too darn cute. She weighs a big 3 1/1 lbs. She also sleeps with me. In my hair. I wouldn't part with either one. They both bring me such love & happiness all the time. Oh, and by the way, in that bed of mine which is an antique bed with a full mattress (not very big) is my husband. So, needless to say, not much room, but I love it.
