Info on Enbrel? | Arthritis Information

Thinking of starting on Enbrel in the next few weeks. Been through a lot of the other DMARDS out there, MTX, Sulfasalazine, Plaquinal, Minocyclin etc.  None of these have really worked that well.

Would really appreciate any info from anyone on Enbrel, Pros and cons. Is there a risk using it and is it worth the possible rewards?I would be totally immoble without a medication lke enbrel. I started on it last October and  I have a life again!  The only problem with enbrel is that I needed to take 2 injections a week, tried a 2 dose injection for a few months and that was fine wth me, but not with my Dr.  I travel quite a bit and found that 2 injections a week made travel a problem due to the refridgeration issue and taking needles to various countries.  I am starting Humera, I get delivery of my first dose on May 31. I am hoping that I am freer to travel on this med.  I will be starting at the one injection every 2 week level to see if it works for me.  I have to go off enbrel for a week before I start humera and that has me worried.
I found enbrel to be a world of difference from pred, sulfasalizine, plaquinal, fosamax, methotrxate etc and these drugs were a class above, mobicox, celebrex and vioxx which did nothng to help me but added too many serious side effects to list.

I would be lost wthout a drug like enbrel, it worked for me and I have no problems with it.  No injection site reactions, nothing.  Remember to make sure the site is dry before doing your injection because the alcohol will sting . The reason for changing from embrel to humera is to facilitate the travel that I do.

Love enbrel!

It has given me a whole new life too. I have been on everything from Gold shots to MTX and everything in between. In have gained some weight, my blood pressure is slightly elevated and I have dry eyes and headaches. Sounds bad but it isn't. It's worth it because for the first time in my life I feel like a million bucks.

Enbrel and travelling....

The mix-it-yourself 25mg doses of Enbrel are ideal for travelling and don't require the same refrigeration as the pre-mixed 50mg doses. I am switching back to the 25mg partially for this reason. The other reason is that the 50mg hurt.

Once the 25mg doses reaches room temperature, 77 degrees, for more than 24 hours, and or reaches 99 degrees, the expiration date becomes 45 days. Less than 77 degrees for less than 24 hours the expiration remains the date printed on the box.

So if enbrel works really well for you this is something to consider.

You can find a lot of information regarding Enbrel under a lot of different postings here. I have taken Enbrel since 98 when it was first released. At that time it was a life saver for me because everything else had stopped working and my arthritis is very aggressive.

I have been on Enbrel for 3 weeks. It is already working well. I no longer need assistance to get dressed or take a shower and can keep up with everyone else at work etc. No serious side effects... I had trouble giving myself the shots so I have been going to the Dr weekly to get them done. I am fine injecting the needle but the medication being injected stings and for the time being need someone else to "push" the meds in. I guess it's just mind/matter.. your body feels the sting and makes itself stop administering it.[QUOTE=RMaria] [QUOTE=Dagda]
