I have been in a flare for the past 3 weeks that has been getting progressively worse. For the last  few days I have been getting killer headaches and now I am getting hot flashes (mostly at night). Any one get this or is it just stress or hormones or something?

I get the hot flashes at night....been going on now for a while.

Might be just stress Crunchy...but if it's all been getting worse, it doesn't hurt to mention it to your doctor to be on the safe side.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

I've been getting hot flashes too...I wonder if that was my body's way of telling me this bad flare was coming on? hmmm.  I have them during the day sometimes, but mostly at night as well.I always get the hot flashes when I'm flaring. Think about it. RA is inflammation. When my meds have it under better control, I don't have the problem.Wow, I didn't think of that Deanna.  My hot flashes started when I got RA.  I though it was just a coincidence.  Now I look back, it is when I flare.  I learn so much from you guys.  I hate hot flashes, not only do I turn red and get all hot, I get shakey.  They make me feel so old

This stuff does make you feel old. It doesn't help when my friends at work sluff off my feeling bad as just getting older. They are older than me and so healthy. They are well meaning, but don't have a clue. They just make me feel sad sometimes. They don't work in immense pain all day. They don't get it that it takes all my efforts to make it to quitting time.

This is such an isolating illness. If I didn't have my kids and some understanding friends, I would go nuts.

I might go nuts anyway I've noticed that since the OB put me on a hormone to stop my cycles until surgery, I wake up in the morning soaked from a hot flash, it only happens right before I wake up though.  I do hope it's not the onset of a flare though, I've been feeling so much better lately!!

Terinski,

That sounds like a hormone issue. If you're worried, call the nurse in the OB office to verify.

I think there are answers to the hot flashes (inflammation, pre menopause, meds) it's the headaches that I would look into.  I'd call my RD about the headaches.  Crunchy, you and I both know that it could be inflammation, infections, stress, etc.  and they should be addresssed. You don't need headaches As far as I know, one of the symptoms of RA and fybro is night sweat.   May have your doctor check to see if you have fybro.  Hope yu are getting better from your flares. Deanna, not worried about it at all... just noticed it recently though!   I've been having night sweats for a while. My Rhemy says it's hormonal & my ob gyn says I'm too young for that to be it. Whatever the reason is it's so gross. But now that you all mentioned it, it does seem worse during a flare. Thanks guys.I think it was a combination of all three...stress (level has been REAL high), hormones (PMS time), and the RA (of course). Plus...and I feel silly about this, but it has been cool at night and my AC has not been kicking on. I have to have it cool in the house when I sleep so that I can bundle up. I think that was contributing to the need to kick the covers off and then pull them back on a few minutes later. I did that for hours the other night.
