Since we've been on the subject of Social Security Disability I have a question. Soc. Sec. set up an appt. with one of their Drs. for me. I have to see him before a determination can be made. Has anyone ever been evaluated by a Soc. Sec. Dr? What types of questions do they ask? The Dr. that I have to see isn't a specialist and his office is in one of the motels in Yuma. Really makes me feel secure about the disability process. I questioned why I was being evaluated by a non specialist and never got a satisfactory answer from Soc. Sec. My medical history is well documented. That does sound a little odd, and his office is in a hotel? weird.Yes, I know it sounds weird but I think he's a traveling doc. for soc. sec. and has appts. all over the state. I have a call to my attorney's office and am waiting to see what they have to say.
The doctor (I say that loosely) I saw was an idiot. He smelled like a brewery. All he did was use a measuring tape and measure around my arms (upper & lower) ,that’s all he did .as to the hotel ,that sounds odd, I would take someone with me into the room .
I'm not sure I'd go to that myself.....sounds very strange to me too. I'd asked to see some sort of documentation before I agreed to go....if I did at all.
I've heard that you can request that your own Rhem. can do the SS exam for you. I'd be scared to go to a motel for any medical anything!Okay, I got the hotel room thing straightened out. Talked with my legal caseworker and Soc. Sec. caseworker. The Dr. is a traveling Dr. in Arizona and they rent a suite at the Hamptom Inn for disability exams. I know it still sounds strange but then this is Yuma!!! I have a 2 page questionnaire from my attorney's office that I have to fill out and overnight to them regarding the physician, examination, environment, and several dozen other questions re: observations. Stan is going to the appointment with me and stay for the exam. My main concern is he's not a rheumatologist. Oh well...let the games begin.good idea to take your husband along. Good luck
