I took my MTX shot on Sat night and my hands have not bothered me untill tonight. My feet have hurt anyways. Based on your experience do you think the pain relief is from the MTX or just coincidence...I mean since the foot pain didnt go away too? crunchy38853.971400463

I assume this is your first week using mtx?

I have had some relief from the first time using it.  My knees have really shown the most improvement, but my foot and my wrist are slower to join in.

It's possible you have worse RA in one spot compared to the others.  It's also possible OA may exist in the spots that are taking time to feel better.

It's hard to know since everyone is different.  I do know that I feel pretty good taking 20mg mtx a week.  I hope to go to 25mg in june as i still have a bit of pain.  Little by little, the more i take the better it gets.

Good Morning:  Up early due to the little pain devils

Yesterday I flared but it was just my hands. I've never had a localized flare before.  We are all so different, it's the same disease but each person reacts differently - even when the same joints are attacked.

I haven't had any relief from the mtx. My doc said that I have two more weeks of it and if I don't start feeling better than they will go to something else. She said that they have to start everyone on the cheapest drug avaiable that works first because insurance wont pay for more expensive drugs until you try the cheapest first. She said I know this is horrible but this is how it is. So maybe in a couple weeks I will notice a difference. She said for the foot pain that never goes away that the only thing they can do right now is pain killers and orthodics. Anyone tried the orthodics?Crunchy:  A follow-up....My RD increased my Mxt last week and I had no problems.  I took Mxt yesterday and woke today at 4:00 in one of the worst flares I've had.  Also, dizzy and severe exhaustion.  Have been on Mxt for 7 weeks and I noticed a small decrease in inflammation and pain but not it's all back and then some.I wear orthotics. I guess they do help some.Mostly if I'm in a flare, I go dig them out & put them in my shoes. If I'm not in a flare, I don't notice much difference.

Crunchy, while it tooks weeks for the mtx to work on me (assuming it really does) I think I feel relief the day after I take it and for a couple of days beyond that. Hopefully it's working for you.

Crunchy, I take mtx on Friday and feel worse usually Saturday and Sometimes Sunday. I often feel better Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday, I'm atarting to get worse again and I take Enbrel. It varies but this is kind of a consistent pattern. Hi Crunchy-I did not have relief with
mtx until I had been taking it about 8 weeks. Now I
really feel the results the very next day. I take it on
friday evenings and really look forward to it for the
pain relief, although I'm exhausted the next day.
I have been on MTX since mid Feb...about 3months. I have never noticed any kind of improvment at all ever since being on it. I do have good days and bad days though. I just wondered if the relief you all get is overall relief or just in some joints. Anyways, my hands are more stiff and sore today than when I first posted this topic last night. I am waiting for my Enbrel to come in the mail. I am thinking maybe I should take it in the middle of the week since I take the MTX on Sat. nights. You know, like maybe if I stagger them I will get relief through out the week...that is if the MTX is actually doing anything. One of the problems with the MTX is that I cant tolerate more than 12.5 mg per week due to the side effects. So the plan is to go down to 2.5 mg per week once the Enbrel starts working, assuming that it is going to work...
