I got a new perscription yesterday it is suppose to help with fatigue and the mtx side effects so far its doing great. Im usually out for two days after took mtx yesterday Today I feel much better than every other time Ive taken it. Has anyone taken leucovorin?Never heard of it, but if it helps with fatigue I'm going to look into it. Glad your feeling better!I am going to ask rd about it next appt.  I would give anything to help with the fatigue

Leucovorin (loo-koe-VOR-in) is used as an antidote to the harmful effects of methotrexate (a cancer medicine) that is given in high doses. It is used also to prevent or treat certain kinds of anemia. Leucovorin acts the same way in the body as folic acid, which may be low in these patients.

The next time I visit my Dr. I will ask him about it. I need all the help that I can get to help with my fatigue.

Thanks for the information

Cool beans! Glad you got something that works!!Sounds great.  I am happy for you that you don't have to suffer so much.  Sometimes the suffering is bearable, and other times, it just grates on your nerves.  Here's to all the energy we need!

I have been taking Leucovorin for about 9 months.  I was loosing soooo much hair with the Mthx and just the folic acid.  The dr. really didn't want to prescribe it but I have to have hair.  It is supposed to be a stronger faster acting verision of folic acid.   I still take the folic acid too.  No side effects but my hair has filled in a bit---finally.

When I was first diagnosed with RA and the first few weeks on Mthx, he was giving me Leucovorin but later raised the Mthx and just gave me folic acid.  ????????? Who knows?  Now when he writes the Rx for Mthx I insist on the Leucovorin.
