I have only been on it for a few months, but noticed lately that i swell the day i take it and for a few days after, then i have great couple of days. But the swelling is inflammation almost as if the mtx causes it.
Anyone else have this problem?
I seem to have this problem as well...at least for the day I take it and the next day. Also have nausea for those 2 days.Me three. I really hate the MTX the most. I am constantly trying to reduce inflammation in my body. The swollen feeling is really going to stink in the humid Chicago Summer..Boy was this topic timely...I've been on Mxt for 7 weeks and had the dosage increased last week. No problems with last weeks dose. Yesterday I took the Mxt and today I have a severe flare, pain and inflammation some of the worst I've had, extreme exhaustion and dizzy. Is this the norm? Why would I be flaring from Mxt? I've been on it for six weeks just took my 6th dose a few minutes ago - and right at the moment, I'm feeling terrible. I had no idea how much the naproxen & Celebrex were doing. I don't feel like the MTX is doing anything yet. Ouch! I ache and have inflamation in all my joints the night of and for about 2 days after I take MTX. I also get terrible nightmares. I feel wiped out for a few days although i don't have any nausea. It is variable and I think the generic MTX produces a worse reaction than the brand name.This is precisely one of the reasons why my rheumy took me off mtx. The only time I didn't hurt or feel deathly ill while on mtx was the day of my next dose. I would be sick to the point of vomiting and have pains in my stomach that would double me over. My joints felt like someone had stomped on them . I would feel like this until Friday morninig. I took the med on Friday night and it would be the same thing all over again all week long. I haven't felt that way since stopping mtx.
See, my problem is, without these drugs I am completely bed ridden and can't help myself at all.
It does help me some, it actually stop a lot of the pain, but makes my body swell up like a balloon. The inflammation gets huge the day of and up to about 3 days later or so. To put it plainly, I take it monday and friday i feel kind of better the afternoon, saturday and sunday feel good, but then i do it all over again.
But, before it, i was using the cane on naproxen and prednisone, but i think celebrex is doing most of the work anyway cuz when i stopped it and tried to go back to naproxen as suggested by my doctor, i swelled up horribly and went back to before meds and it was bad.
