Dizzy This Morning | Arthritis Information

This morning when I woke, I was DIZZY. My gosh, it was horrible. It lasted a good minute or so. When I was able to get out of bed I wasn't steady on my feet. That lasted about 1-2 minutes. My head felt a bit light off & on, but no real dizziness. I put a call into my RD & awaiting his call. This coming Monday, I will take my 4th dose of MTX. 4 tablets. I wonder if that caused it.  I have a wedding to go to this evening, so I hope he calls before then.

It getting to be that I have something different  happening all the time.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on this.

 Thanks, Trisha

A couple of things can cause dizziness and I dont know anything about your other medical problems, it you even have any. If you have neck problems that can cause dizziness. Also if your blood sugar was a little low or you just got up too fast or you have sinus congestion/ear problems  that could make you dizzy as well. If if resolved on its own and you didnt pass out, you probably are okay. It may not happen again but if if continues you should see your GP.  Narcotic pain meds and sleeping pills can make you dizzy too. For now, you should rise slowly. When you are lying down and you get up, sit up first and sit for a minute before you stand.  If you are still dizzy now or are having episodes of dizziness you probably should not drive untill this is resolved. Also no climbing up on stepladders or any thing where you could fall and break something. crunchy38856.6137037037

Sometimes I get real dizzy and walk unsteadily. I don't take much for meds except HBP and a xanax now and then and ibuprophen. Sometimes I get nausea with the dizziness and it kinda scares me.

I hope you feel better hon.

Hope you're feeling better and able to enjoy the wedding.

If the RD doesn't find anything, ask for a referral for a good neurologist. It might not be anything, but getting checked is important.

Being dizzy is such a common symptom for a lot of things. But blood work and a neurological exam can rule out a lot of problems.

Hope you feel better.

Thank you all for your answers. My RD called me about 5:30 today. He said he didn't think it was the MTX. He said if it happens again, I'm to call him. I'm not one to be sick & feeling like crap most of the time. Always busy. Since this RA hit me, my world has been spinning out of orbit. This morning scared me to death.

The wedding was lovely, but cold! It was to start at 7:00pm & was outside at Snowhill Mansion. The wedding didn't start till 8:00pm, due to the Photographer, who didn't show. That was just terrible. Lots of people took pictures for her. It was so chilly outside, in fact it was darn cold. So where is the global warming. lol

Have a great weekend

Trisha

trishasea, your dizziness could be cause from a simple sinus infection or it could be a drop in your blood pressure upon getting up to fast in the morning.
If you notice that you get dizzy when you bend over, as if the floor feels like it's going to hit your face, then it's a sinus infection. If the dizziness makes you lightheaded then it could be a drop in blood pressure. If the room is spinning in a certain direction, then it's from something else. Try to paid attention to which way the dizziness makes you feel as the doc will ask.

One last thing, hope that you feel better and that you got to enjoy your wedding.

When I'm hurting really bad I go through spells of getting dizzy & nauseous. That's also the 1st sign of coming down with something. Hopefully yours was a one time thing.

I bet the poor bride was a wreck waiting. Glad it turned out ok.

Yeah, that global warming bit makes me laugh

That's too too bad about the photographer not showing up...I'm sure it was still a wonderful wedding.

Metho can make you dizzy and nautious.  Doesn't happen to everyone but it can.  I get very dizzy for days when i take mine.  I am  on 8 pills a week now.

RA itself can make you dizzy as well, inflammation in the head including brain or sinuses or even around your heart can make you quite dizzy.

Also, diabetes can as well and some with RA get it just from what RA does to our systems.

Methotrexate makes me very dizzy and disoriented as well as fatigued. I take 3. One at breakfast, one at lunch, one at dinner and always with a substantial meal.  Protein and dairy seems to help. You might ask the doctor about not taking your meds all at once . I don't know what else you're on but plaquanil can make you really dizzy and disoriented too. With me I adjusted, but it took some time.

Hi indak.. I wasn't aware that you could space out the MTX. That sounds like a good idea. I see my RD the last week of this month, can't remember the date. (so what else is new? lol)

I take 10mg Prednisone daily & the MTX 4 tabs. on Monday.

Trisha
