Digestive Connection to RA | Arthritis Information

Has anyone done any research on the digestive connection to RA. Specifically "Leaky Gut Syndromde"??

I am starting on some probiotics and digestive enzymes this week. I am going to again eliminate wheat and dairy and see how I feel.

Not familiar w/this.  Please tell us more.  I've always had digestive problems.  I think I'm lactose intolerant.  I've just been diagnosed w/ RA a month ago.

I have irritable bowel syndrome which has improved greatly since they put me on all the medications for RA. This is closely related to inflammatory bowel disease and Chrohn's. They are all inflammatory diseases. The irritible bowel was one of the ones included in the medical history evaluation when I first started with my RD.

It is certainly worthwhile to discuss this with your RD. I had to go through a colonoscopy just because they thought my bowels were being affected. It was something much less serious, just a bacterial infection. But don't suffer, ask.

I too have irritable bowel. It was first diagnosed as diverticulitis. I have a lot of allergies and food intolerances and fibro and I think they all go together.
