Humira side effects | Arthritis Information

My wife has been on Humira for a couple of years and it's worked pretty well.  BUT, for the first week after injecting she usually feels pretty bad - nausea, weakness, general feeling ill.  She's even taken to injecting every 3 weeks so she gets two good weeks for every bad one.

Has anyone else experienced this?  More specifically, does anyone know how to fix it?  Her doctor and rheumatoloist don' seem to have come across the problem with anyone else.
I get this sometimes but was blaming Methotrexate which I take as well as Humira.  I feel great immediately after the injection and then the next day feel a bit weak and tired, this lasts two or three days and then I feel good again.  I too have spaced out my jabs from time to time, more because I am needle phobic.  Also I have had quite large needle site reactions the last couple of times which I never had before.  Going to my Rheumatologist in early June so will ask him about the tiredness, etc. My wife was even worse on Methotrexate and had to give it up.

She doesn't usually have much needle site reaction to Humira - occasionally it swells up and is a bit irritating.  When this happens she finds putting Benadryl lotion on it is pretty effective.
I was told the Methotrexate would stop my body from rejecting Humira (if that makes sense!)  I certainly feel 90% better on Humira than before it.  The docs and professionals don't seem to know much about Humira that's why these posts really help us all by comparing symptoms, side effects, etc.  Does your wife have the injection before bedtime, I do and usually wake up feeling OK.  When I used to take it in the morning I felt a bit light headed, and dizzy all day.She usually injects in the evening -that way she doesn't get any effects that day.  Usually by the following afternoon she  tends to feel a bit dizzy and light headed, but not too bad. Then after another 2 or 3 days she generally starts to feel a lot worse and can feel pretty awful for one or two days, or longer.  It's at least a week before she's clear of all the unpleasant effects.  Other than that, the stuff works very well.
