First day at work | Arthritis Information

After being off from work for over a year, I went back to my old job. Had to be there early afternoon and at that time it's hard to find a parking space in the employee garage. There's seven levels and no elevator. Yep, I was on seven, God's country.
Got to the dept. and of course, I couldn't get in as I couldn't remember the codes to the door locks. I felt so lost!
The day started out okay but I wasn't a superwomen. I had to try to remember how to do things and, yes, I spent a couple of seconds staring at one of my machines, trying to remember what button to push.
It wasn't that busy, thank God, but at the end of the shift, I was feeling it. My feet and legs were killing me. I was sooooo tired! I crawled up all seven flights of stairs to my car. I just had to sit in the car for a few mins. before I could turn on the car.
Got home, crawled up the driveway and stairs to my place, and dropped the keys to the door. All I wanted to do was crash. I got in and headed straight for my bedroom. I took my meds and went to sleep.
Today, I ache all over. My muscles are yelling at me. Took my meds and they are staring to kick in. Have to work for two more days and then I get the long weekend to crash!!!!

MarisaI am sure it is a very difficult adjustment, but don't get discouraged yet. Try to do only what you have to do at home until you are able to come home with a little energy left over. Could you get a handicapped tag, so that you could park closer to your work area? Good Luck Marisa!beadturtle38862.4846180556

You can do it girlfriend....Hang in there. It will get easier.

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

Don't give up. Rest when you can. We're proud of you!!

We are proud of you! I know how you feel. It is hard. I really crash when I get home. I don't really notice much while at work. Only a twinge of pain here and there. Lots of stiffness. But, when I get home.... it takes everything in me to make supper and eat it. Then I crash. Happy long weekend! Here in Canada, our long weekend was last week (Victoria Day). Happy Memorial Day everyone!Glad you made it through the day. We can only do so much before our bodies give out. Hope the rest helps. 1 down 2 to go!The timing is really good - you do get a chance to recover before next week. Seven flights of sstairs. Beadturtle is right - you could sure use a handicapped tag for parking. Do you think your doctor will give you one (explain the 7 flights of stairs!)? Two more days. You can do it! I hope you get through these next 2 days without too much pain.  Enjoy your long weekend!Good for you surviving work. Is there an elevator you could use? I know what you mean about the exhaustion after work. I turn up the radio in the car on the way home so I don't fall asleep.   Thanks for the encouragement. Have to tell you what happen yesterday. I was telling one of my co-workers about going up all of those dare stairs. He went to the head of security and told them what was going on and got me a carpool sticker for my car. I'm now allow to park closer to the building and only have to walk up one set of stairs! This was soooo nice of him.
Still hurting and had to up my Advil. Can't wait until Saturday, 3 days off!
