I am sorry with so many questions. You ask a doctor and they say no can't be must be something else but I've seen a few post where they said they swelled at night. That seems to be the worst after i sit down my ankles and the joints  in my toes and fingers, its worse if i have had a busy day. Why is it you won't flare on your doctors appt. I forgot to tell you i have a brand new grandson 4 pounds and 9oz ,17inches , and1 month early and soooo cute.    I have no idea but that is how it is for me. I still have red joints although all the time in my hands. I never am so bad where i cant walk like i am at home. When I call and say the meds aren't working I m in pain i feel a liitle silly they probably think iam a baby.Congratulations Gizzy

I am the same way when it comes to seeing my doctor. I have lots of swelling and pain, but when I finally get my appointment, I look much better. I am hoping this new doctor will be able to see what I am talking about, but with my luck he might not... I still am waiting to get a call or an appointment in the mail. Then I am sure I will have a long wait to see him. I kept saying, with the last severe swelling I had, I should have taken pictures! ha ha! Lucky though, my GP saw it when I was at my worse last month, so I have an eye witness.

Congrats!

Thank you... dar my RD said to take pictures and some one told me to write a diary of when your in a flair so maybe it could help. Congratulations on your new grandson!

Thank you all, you guys are the best

I found out that the town I live in doesn't even have a Rheumatologist for me to see.  I had posted earlier that I was finally going to make an appointment and my town is too small to even have one!  I think the closest would be about an hour and a half away.  I guess I'll just live in pain for a while.  I've been taking some Aleve and it seems to help a little sometimes.  I was in the feed store the other day and a lady was in there buying horse linament and said that they use it for arthritis and gout!  Has anyone ever heard of this?  She said it was wonderful, except for the smell.  Let me know if anyone has tried this before.  I know it sounds silly, but at this point I'm all for any ideas since I can't get into a doctor. LOL

Congratulations Gizzy! Boy, that is a tiny one! Although I don't yet have a diagnosis, I have swelling at night too. It seems that late in the day, my feet especially, and sometimes my hands and ankles will start to throb, get hot, turn red and swell. They hurt awfully bad. Usually, after I have been up for a while in the morning they are better. Taking pictures is a great idea. I only hope you are a better photographer than I am.

Congrats Gizzy.  Grandkids are the ultimate.  I have a three year old grandsona nd a five year old granddaughter.  They arejust awesome.

Inky--I had a hard time with dr too.  Mine is an hour and fifteen minutes away and hubby has to take off work to drive me every tiem I have an appt.  BUT DON'T PUT OFF GOING TO A DR.  The sooner they start treating you the better for you.  It takes time to find the right ra cocktail to work for your particular ra.

I have heard of using "horse linament", drinking vinegar and a whole lot more things that sound  way way out there!

Good luck and GET A DR. APPT!!
