Is irritability a symptom of RA?  I am so grouchy.  I am irritated all the time lately.  I mean, I am fairly happy with my life, but kids and people drive me crazy.

I have zero patience.

Is it the prednisone, or am I just a bitch?

It is the pred, if you aren't like this normally! Pred does a HUGE number on some people. Congrats on being one of them!

It's the prednison...it is evil.Fibro quite often goes along with RA and it can cause irritability. I know for me predinsone makes me a grouch i don't even like myself. Its worse when the doctor bumps me up to a higher dose for a flare. I cry a lot too, but my friend who has had RA for 20 some years said she cried a lot too when she first got RA.I am generally a grouchy person anyways so it is hard for me to say!

Yes; very well could be the predisone. Very likely. If you have to be on it long term I'd ask about an anti depressant. My doctor eventually gave me some to help me sleep....but I found that at times when my family were hiding from me; one of those "nerve pills" seem to calm me down dramatically.

Wow.  I didn't realize that prednisone did this.  I'm going to call my boyfriend right now to apologize.  I've been jumping all over him about nothing!  Now I finally know why! This is one of the reasons I wanted off pred. so much.  I was so moody and if I were not being a recluse, I would be grouchy.  Never with my husband because I don't get to be with him often enough.  I pretty much am always happy when he is around because it is "long time no see".
