Waterbeds??? | Arthritis Information

Anyone sleep on a waterbed?? My husband and I had one untill about 6 years ago and I have been thinking that a heated motionless waterbed would feel really good. Any thoughts???Don't know about waterbeds, but I've heard electric blanklets help. Of course, it's getting too hot for that. I've wondered about those theraputic foam mattresses. They look so comfortable.

I just got finished shopping around online for waterbed mattresses and I found that you can get a king size 99% motionless with lumbar support for about 0. Of course you still need the heater, liner, frame etc. but you can basically get a pretty nice complete bed for about the same price as set of king size standard matresses.  I also found some memory foam mattress toppers that run about another 0.

My husband and I had a waterbed years ago, it was full motion though.

I cant sleep in the same bed with him anyways so I dont even know why I bother. I would have to sell the bed in the guest room and put the waterbed in there for me. Otherwise he would end up with the bed and I would still be on the couch. I have to have a TV on to sleep and he has to have quiet and dark. I have though about getting some wirless headphones and then he would just have to adjust to the light but no noise and I could still hear the TV.

OMG  A waterbed sounds so painful to me.  Just my opinion, but for my body, it would be agony.  I think the memory foam topper would be bliss.  A good bed makes all the difference in the world.  I keep thinking of that commecial that this woman sings sleep sleep sleep.  lol  I love to sleep when I can.  I know I keep bringing this up but since I started water exercise - I have actually been sleeping !

Deanna,  I still use my electric blanket to sit on.  My butt always hurts and it helps.  No matter how hot it is outside !

I had one years ago when I first started having symptoms of RA. It was horrible for me. Of course it was the old fashion kind and it was so, so difficult to get out of; and Lord help you if something happens to the heater and you wake up in a cold bed!! YICKS.

Although I don't have one; I'd recommend a Sleep Number bed before a water bed. Everyone that has them can't say enough about them.

Hope you find something you like....a good bed makes all the difference in the world.

PS: My husband was a dark sleeper....and had to have a fan that made this really loud noise when we first got married. I'm please to say I've broken him of this rediculous habit after only a year and a half!! AND; he's gotten use to my TV being on too.

I have my electric blanket under the mattress pad that I still use most nights even though it's warmed up tremendously.  I live in the mountians of So. Cal.  I can't believe how well it works just to keep the joints warm.  My  next thing, since my old bedframe broke, is to make a new platform for the bed and get it up off the floor, getting UP in the morning is funny to watch!!  I can actually see my dog laughing at me!!!   OMG  Terinski.  Getting up off a bed on the floor in the morning.  I would have to crawl to something to pull me up.  I bet your dog thinks you are playing games with him OH he does, he brings me his pull toy, which of course, I can't play with him with anymore, since it's difficult to grasp!!  He's a great companion though!!  :) crunchy my friend she swears by one. She has had RA for 20 some years and loves hers its the same as the  one you ask about. Everyone of her joints has been replaced both her ankles have been fused and wrist she is one of the ones that wasn't lucky with the meds they had to choose from. She loves to crawl in bed in the winter cause it would be sooo warm for her. I only tried a water bed once but that was enough. There was too much motion for me and if you have back problems, you can find yourself in uncomfortable   positions that are hard to get out of. Also, if something goes wrong withthe heater, the thought of waking up in  a cold clammy bed is awlful. When we had ours a long time ago we had a heater go out and we had to put a comforter under the sheet or we would have froze!heat must one point not heat over whole body might help.
depend on which kind RA.
