Hi -
I had to change usernames because I could never get to post anything.  I used to  be 2nd, but now I am teach2.  My knee is killing me.  I don't know if it is Rheumatoid or what.  It hurts a little differently than before.  Should I call my regular doc or the rhuematologist (who is 100 miles away) or how ever it is spelled (not a 2nd grade word) or just suffer until June 12 when I have  an appointment with the RD?  If it hurt as as bad as it does now, all the time, I would have to call someone, but it does get better from time to time, but that makes me think it is rheumatoid.  Help!!
Cheryl
Try calling your regular doc and see if he can order an xray or MRI. Then he can send a copy of the report to the RD. Between the two of them, they should be able to help you. Or, maybe, if you have access to either of those two tests, your RD can order them at the place closest to him. The report can be faxed to your doctor.

I would try the regular doc just in case it is something else.

I have OA and didn't know it until recently.  Docs didn't look close before last visit.  I would find over half my pain coming when i didn't have inflammation.  Odd bone pain.

At age 33, my body shouldn't be this old.

See your regular doc and describe your symptoms. He might want to order blood work which could then be forwarded to the Rheumatologist for the June 12th visit.  It took years of blood tests for my bloodwork to finally show RA but my GP routinely checked. When I finally got diagnosed more than 8 years later he said he always knew I had an autoimmune version of arthritis, he just didn't know which one. You can have both OA and RA (I do) and you can hav emore than one autoimmune at the same time.I would call both and talk to someone to seee what they think you should do. Thats what I do. But I don't have to drive 100miles either. call any doctor do a blood test first.
